That Birds listing is only a place-holder and has been up for several years, so I wouldn't view it as any sort of confirmation.

Even with the price included, it's been up for at least a year. It could still be released along with the box on 9/25 though. Strangers showed up in my Gold Box - I'm debating whether to buy it at $13.29 or hold off for the inevitable $9.99 price drop. I'll have to make some tough choices in the months to come! |

Thanks! I pre-ordered.

re: The Official Alfred Hitchcock on Blu-ray & UHD Thread
It looks like WB aren't going with a large box set, only one with Train, Dial M, and North by Northwest (despite its inclusion in the upcoming Universal box), if this leaked Spanish box art is any indication.

re: The Official Alfred Hitchcock on Blu-ray & UHD Thread
I don't want the entire set. I only want a few of those films, so I'm certainly not paying $150+.
I expect The Birds and a few others to get separate releases with the same banner that Psycho had, "An Alfred Hitchock Masterpiece". It'd be nice if they debuted the same day, but I expect we'll get the box set only first. |

Do we know yet if The Birds on this set is going to include everything on the single release? I'm assuming it's the same transfer.

Too bad it won't sound fantastic.

That sounds horrible and the cover art is atrocious. I'll wait for reviews before I figure out how much I'm willing to spend on this.

re: The Official Alfred Hitchcock on Blu-ray & UHD Thread
The restoration trailer I posted above looks superb, and I have no doubt the Blu-ray will look equally wonderful, as much time and money have been spent on the restorations, so I'll definitely keep my pre-order locked in. I am quite irritated about the score however, as no other option seems to be included. Indeed, as if to compound the insult, the composer's name is even bigger than Hitchcock's on the cover, and his score gets its own CD!

Any news on any of the other early films that were supposed to be getting restored? Think there is a chance of more Blu-ray releases at some point? |
re: The Official Alfred Hitchcock on Blu-ray & UHD Thread
The music in the trailer alone sounds awful, very abrasive. It sounds like it's about to burst into a rendition of the Alfred Hitchcock Presents theme, which is not right at all for the period of the film.
I'm going to cancel my preorder. |

The upshot of the restoration is that their 'definitive' version of The Pleasure Garden, sewn together, restoring those characters, shots and sequences that had been snipped out, is now a full 20 minutes longer than any surviving single print. It’s almost back to the 90 minute running time of Hitchcock's original. |

No U.S. listing yet, but the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (Universal) will be released on 10/1 in the UK.
http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d..._500x500_1.jpg Blu-ray.com link Edit: There will also be a German set, with possibly different titles (39 Steps, North by Northwest?) included. http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4...i91laa1500.jpg looks nice but I'm still opting for the space savings UK set |
