All this talk makes me want to go sell the couple dozen plus slipcovers I do have.

yeah I'm not getting decision to post those, but whatever I guess.

I should look over my collection and see if I can unload my covers - if people are willing to pay $$ for 'em - why not?

Those triple feature discs actually are 3-disc sets. (Troy has 2 discs... so that one is 4)

It has special features missing from other releases?

Since this is a slipcover topic I'm gonna guess the slip is hard to find.

It was a joke. The initial BD (and HD DVD) release of that flick was devoid of special features. :p

Anyone have a ballpark number on what the Lost season 3 and Crank slipcovers are going for? I did a search on ebay but couldn't find anything. I have both and would love to sell them.

whotony 02-10-12 05:43 AM

Re: these people are obsessed with slipcovers

I can tell you Lost isn't selling for $400.

Because this purchase included the actual movie I would never have a problem with the purchase. I do admit to thinking it's a waste of money to buy just the slipcover or multiple versions of a movie that are never opened just to have a slipcover. If there are enough collectors to actually recoup the money by selling them I guess that's OK. I have a 78 Trans Am in the garage that is rarely driven but that has a proven history of collectability and appreciation. I don't think that will ever survive long term with slip covers. However the very fact that it exists in the first place would defy my guess anyway so spend away and spur the economy

In about a 100 years, Antique Roadshow will have someone on with a bunch of DVD/Bluray slipcovers to get appraised. "They are worthless, except for this King Kong one, which is about $1.98. It'd be worth $2.50 if it still had the disc."

But, I don't understand the watermark thing. It's a picture of a product. Like the folks on ebay who get all bent out of shape when some other seller uses their picture for an item, such as a DVD or a record. Why care? You don't have the intellectual rights to the artwork displayed on the product in the first place. It's a picture of someone else's copyrighted material.
It's just something I never got.

Hey! King Kong has...a... special feature. Commentary by Peter Jackson. Haters. :-p

The slipcover was only available on the (small) first printing.

This thread makes me want to register an account at blu-ray.com, fire up photoshop and make a fake slipcover for a movie known to not have a slipcover (like "The Crow") and then casually post a picture of it in a thread showing off my collection.

And then, when everyone goes nuts and asks me where I got it, I'd tell them "Amazon."

Where Xage?

I want to now if he bought all the Uni's yet.

I hate when sliding back on, a slipcover snags on the clear plastic part of the Blu case and bends or tears it. I usually take care with them, but others haven't realized and damaged some of my blu cases.
