Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but it looks like Target will have an exclusive bonus disc containing and extra called "Creating The Visual Effects". Doesn't sound like much, but more worthwhile than BB's exclusive packaging, especially since the default packaging is already pretty good.

My copy just shipped. I guess I won't be reading the book first if I want to fit this into the action challenge...

I received my blu-ray from Best Buy today, but I'm afraid to take the shrinkwrap off.

I can't tell whether the exclusive packaging is just a slip cover. Has anyone opened theirs yet?

Open that bitch and snap some pics! You'd be like the coolest kid on the internets. As long as you don't get tangled up in the plastic and suffocate that is.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

I ordered from Amazon, but was doing some shopping this morning and saw these flying off the shelf at both Target and Walmart. I checked out the Target one and the bonus disc is housed in a slim blu case, but couldn't see what kind of artwork it had. They had those stupid straps on the case crushing the box at the top and bottom.

There's a picture on bluray.com. Basically a regular slipcover over the original packaging. Doesn't look as sturdy as the the regular packaging.

And I guess Walmart has an exclusive disc called ""Houses of the Seven Kingdoms", but then to get that, you have to step into a Walmart...

I think the target exclusive disc is the same as the amazon.uk bonus disc.

Just leave it on the porch. Don't take any chances with it.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Be careful when picking up at Target. They have two sets, one with the bonus disc, and one without. I pick up mine this morning at the new release shelf and noticed that it didn't have the bonus disc on the back then I saw a few feet away another shelf and it has the bonus disc. You need to see the sticker on the front that say it included the bonus disc and make sure that it's on the back of the set. Both sets were price the same, so go figure.

My closest Target didn't have any of the sets that had a bonus disc that were not ruined by the damned spider security wraps. Plus, the employee I asked if they had any more that weren't fucked up in the back gave me a bunch of crap. I understand the blu's are a high-theft item. I understand the spider-wraps have to be on tight to ensure they don't walk out of the store. But damn, do you have to fuck up every single copy that you have in stock? "The discs should be fine." Thanks dude, the packaging has 4 crushed sides, I'll pass. Pisses me right off...I'd rather not purchase something new that looks like it's been played with by a pit-bull puppy.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Just got it today in the mail from Amazon.com. Very nice looking set and I can't wait to go through it later this week. $34.99 with no tax and free shipping I just couldn't beat. Don't need the covers or the bonus discs.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

watched the first episode with commentary
as a rule of thumb the writers should not be allowed to continually reference the unaired pilot if they aren't going to include it in the set

also what a stupid layout with one menu that is the same over all the discs so if you pull up a bonus feature from the menu on disc 1 it may ask you to insert disc 5 .... horrible interface

Mine arrived from amazon last night. Now I can pick up where I left off after watching the BB promo disc, which hooked me in.
