Yeah, I have to jump. I wish we had the letter opener like BB Canada though.

Damn...was looking forward to the keychain, but credit and no-tax makes Amazon the way to go I think.

I just checked and it was in my Gold Box for $33.24. Fuck the keychain!

Yeah, the "free" keychain is really the cost of sales tax, gas, and having to spend 15 minutes explaining to the sales associate that you don't want the service plan.

Well, you could have it shipped to your house for free(would still have to pay sales tax though).

I also wanted the exclusive case but this was in my Goldbox for $33.24. No tax and release date delivery. Can't match Best Buy.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Just pre-ordered it from Amazon. $34.99 works for me. No sales tax, free shipping, I'm also a Prime Member.

Looking forward to checking out the bonus material and hear some of the commentary tracks.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

I believe the Prime shipping for this is "Release Day Delivery" which often translates to "Day Before Release Day" for BD. I've even gotten the occasional disc the Saturday before.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Had a $5 Reward Zone GC for BB so in the end even with tax, I got it cheaper then Amazon and free shipping.

LOL one of the rare times you/ll do better than Amazon's pricing.

But do you get anything for pre-ordering? Best Buy you get key chain and special slip cover.

Washington residents have to pay tax, so yeah, no tax benefit here.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

Reviews are starting to come out:

http://whatculture.com/tv/game-of-th...experience.php

Overall: 4.5/5

All that’s left to say is to try and convince anyone who will listen that this is one of the most immersive and impressive shows on television today. With an estimated budget of $60 million, HBO has spared no expense to bring Martin’s epic series to your living room. Were it not for the tiresome disc swapping and the few minor sound glitches, I would have given it the full five stars. For new fans and old fans alike, the Season 1 Blu-ray is the complete Game of Thrones experience.
http://www.blu-raydefinition.com/rev...ay-review.html

Overall: 5/5

After this spectacular opening salvo helping to prove HBO still has its mojo when it comes to original programming for premium cable, one can’t help but hotly anticipate what is to come in the marvelous world created by George R.R. Martin and the series producers for the second season of Game of Thrones. In the meantime, getting this Blu-ray set to catch up or refresh one’s memory is easy to recommend.

No way I could pass on Amazon's $34.99 price, so I bit. I'm fine with the regular artwork; no need for variants.

This is the first time I have seen it referred to as a slip cover. Is it just a slip cover over the standard blu-ray box, or is the artwork on the box itself different altogether?

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

If it's anything like what Target offered for True Blood, I suspect it's just a slip covering the box (which itself contains a digipack).

5/5 stars

With a stunning video presentation, an enveloping DTS-HD Master Audio track, and hours upon hours of excellent extras, Game of Thrones already stands as one of the best releases of 2012. It would take an army of gods and kings to knock it off its throne.

Only 4.5/5? I'll pass on this and re-watch LOTR instead.

Re: Game of Thrones: Season 1

anyone seen the Best Buy sets in person yet? Is it just a slip-cover? I had pre-ordered the Stark one just in case I wanted it, but if I get the whole series, this may look out of place with future season sets.
