Anyone see Fantastic Beasts yet? Great?

Bought it but will probably re-watch the entire Harry Potter series again first (on my new big screen and Atmos sound system!) The only dilemma, having the Hogwarts set, is do I watch the 3D or 2D version of Deathly Hollows Part 1 since that was only shown in 2D in theaters?

I don't understand that anyone has to wonder if any 3D is any good. The writing is on the wall and we all better start buying them when we get a chance. I have a 3D/4K PJ and I'm double dipping all the titles that are 3D...up to 23 3D titles !

I'm even willing to spend $40 for KONG: SKULL ISLAND 3D from Best Buy just to own it.

I'm really not into CG animation, but maybe I should look into it. Not to many 68 years are, I'm sure.

Maybe they are fun to watch but not to collect.

It looks like Kong: Skull Island isn't getting a 3D release either. Best Buy removed it from their site.

For now, it looks like the 3D version is a Best Buy exclusive (with steelbook and 4K to boot!)

question...if the US is not getting a 3D physical release of Underworld: Blood Wars, how can Vudu have the 3D version for sale, bundled with 2D, for $24.99?

Because Vudu gets 3D masters from the Studio; they aren't ripping Blu-rays to get their movies. Sony has the 3D version of the film on hand, and digital distribution is very low cost with low overheads, so it makes sense that they'd put it on Vudu even if they don't want to bother with a physical Blu-ray release in the US.

It's like asking how Vudu could have an HD copy of a film/TV show even though there isn't a Blu-ray release. Just because there isn't a Blu-ray doesn't mean that an HD/3D version doesn't exist and can't be sold on other platforms.

no, i know all that. just thought it odd that Sony won't release a physical copy, but think they'll make money on digital. i'm thinking about it, even though it didn't get great reviews. $24.99 isn't bad for a 3D release...

You can get Frozen 3D on Vudu as well. There's a lot of 3D movies on Vudu that aren't on disc.

It's not odd at all. Again, much lower overhead and upfront cost. All Sony probably had to do was hand over a copy of the 3D version and set a price, Vudu handles the rest. If it sells 100 copies on Vudu, it's recouped the "cost" of putting it up there, the rest is gravy.

On the other hand, 100 copies of a Blu-ray isn't even worth warming up the presses for, not to mention the distribution costs and the additional overhead of having another SKU to try and push onto retailers.

Honestly, this is the best business application of digital: for releasing something cheaply that otherwise wouldn't be worth putting out at all.

Just talking about US. But yes, I have the U.K. Zavvi steelbook of Frozen.

Just rented and watched "Priest" in 3D on Vudu today (since the disc isn't the theatrical version), quality kept dropping to low-res from lack of bandwidth. I'd never pay the price of a disc to 'own' anything on Vudu- they've got the Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers 3D concert movies which will probably never be on disc, but they're only for purchase at $35 each! Wonder how many of those they've sold?

You can download a title on Vudu so that you don't have to be concerned about internet bandwidth (or internet at all). The download feature is available on the iOS and Android Apps, and on PC with the Vudu to Go program. Although, I'm not sure those would work with a 3D video.

There's still a listing for it on Best Buy. Not sure if it's on error or exclusive.

Yeah, the recently released 3D Lenticular Steelbook is wonderful and it is indeed region free. I've been purchasing all the Disney titles Zavvi has been re-releasing as Lenticular Steelbooks, even if I have the domestic version. I am a steelbook addict and most of the Zavvi releases are stunners.

That's why they sell well. I only got it because it was the same price as the regular UK 3D release. I used to be a pseudo steelbook addict, but thank goodness it was short lived.

Anyone have Run 3D? Any good? It's real cheap now and I love parkour stuff like in District B13...
