I just got it in the mail yesterday but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. The review was solid though.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
The Great Wall is the next confirmed release with no 3D version in the US. Regular and 4K versions coming May 23rd.
So far that's Sony (Underworld & Resident Evil), Universal (Great Wall), and Paramount (xXx) dropping 3D support with new releases in the US, but all have versions available in other countries. That's some bullshit. |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
But it's been happening for the past couple of years for the most part. Their damn loss, most of us will just import. Personally, I'm torn between 4K and 3D. Just depends on the movie really, some I'll buy one format only, others I may get both.

Was A Monster Calls released in theaters in 3D? Wondering if it was and another country is getting its release. Seems like a good movie and even 2D blu seems impressive...

Thanks Jay. Guess not. Still sounds like a solid release...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
in regards to 'A Monster Calls' - the end credits denote Dolby Atmos, but I don't think it went out as such, at least in the States as such. Universal / Focus does further injustice by not even including the 7.1 mix which was a stunner - waiting for the UK release from E1 Entertainment to see what audio mix they are going to include.

I really would like to buy passengers in 3D, but at the ridiculous Amazon price of $46 for the UHD/BD/3D set, no thanks. I really, really hate this practice of making the 3D only available in a pricey package of other stuff I don't want.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
For those so inclined, THE STEWARDESSES 3D has been at an all-time low of $12.99 for a while now at Amazon. Wish I'd held off a bit longer!

Nope. We were going to watch it yesterday but ran out of time.

Fantastic Beasts sounds fantastic. Might get it, but wish it were a little lower in price. I've been liking some of these $25+ release date prices...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
Let me tell you something...there is a difference between a 3D TV and a 3D projector. I know , because I have both.
My den TV has a Mit 65738 DLP 3D TV. and my player is a Panny 210 3D. Every 3D movie played on it plays perfect! Now, my brand new Epson 6040 4K/3D...that is another story. Not every movie plays perfect. You have to go into 3D DEPTH and try to get rid of the GHOSTING!!! WTF!!! I know that my den TV (DLP) plays movies like soap operas, and maybe I shouldn't compare them, but, why am I not seeing a perfect 3D picture in my HT??? I can't tweek my den TV but I have to tweek my HT picture...FRUSTRATED!!! Next week I have an ISFer coming by to calibrate my HT PJ...trained in Japan For Epson. That should be a thrill and an exciting adventure!!! |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
Your DLP TV needs "smooth motion" or anything else with the word "motion" in it turned off.

Just looked and yes, I have "smooth 120" on. |

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
A small surprise after work today. I ordered September Storm during the Target sale a while back. I knew based on my tracking notification that it was arriving today.
When I arrive, there are two packages. I open the first one; it's September Storm. Open the second and it's ... September Storm. Uh, that's weird. I look up my account. I only ordered it once, so I guess they mistakenly sent me two packages. Edit to add: I happen to glance over at the receipt from the package and see Deep Discount. I know I didn't order it from there! Both boxes are from Target; the other box had my receipt from Target. I guess it was a distribution center screw up. No name or shipping address on the Deep Discount receipt. I guess I should call Deep Discount. |

What's up with instore pickup now at BB?
Picked up Fantastic Beasts (3D) today. got this today and they have this new annoying new habit of putting hold stickers on the case/slipcover and they don't come off easy. And they take up the entire from cover. I do it there. If it doesn't come off standard release with slipcover then I'm having them get me a fresh copy. It's getting annoying and I hate to be one of "those" guys. I told her I want to give it as a present, like I should have to make a sheepish excuse. SteelBooks are always plastic wrapped so we're good there. True story, I got a new one for Moonlight standard release when this happened, saw when I was browsing around weeks later that same badly peeled stickered Moonlight on the new release display. No name thank god, but come on. Have some respect for your store and product. At least take the damn slip cover off and toss it. So stupid... |

I've never had a problem removing one as long as I did it right away. Let them sit for too long though and it's not coming off without damage.
