This looks interesting for you bad movies, comic book and 3D fans:

ROBOT MONSTER COMICS IN 3-D 64-page graphic novel! by Bob Furmanek, 3-D Film Archive — Kickstarter

It includes more than just Robot Monster. But for the three Robot Monster fans out there, you will be even happier with a variety. https://forum.dvdtalk.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well, as Furmanek says in the video, of the 3D Archive’s 30-ish restorations so far, ROBOT MONSTER was by far the most popular, so I think you’ll need to revise that fanbase to at least four or five, maybe even six!! ;)

The book isn’t for me, but it’s cool that they’re doing it. Seems like nearly every indie comic put up on Kickstarter gets funded nowadays.

I really hope Kung Fu Panda 4 comes out somewhere in 3D. Would hate to break the set.

It’s on Vudu, I don’t want it that badly though.

Are all 3D active glasses the same? Meaning one wouldn't have a better 3D picture/effect than another set of active glasses, right? Thanks.

Active glasses can have differences, that could make one better than another.

Regardless of whether you purchase glasses made by the manufacturer of your projector or not, there are still many other factors you can consider that will help you select a pair of glasses that will make your 3D viewing experience more immersive including the following:

- Panel (Lens) Response Time

- Transmittance

- Viewing Angle

- Contrast (Suggested Ratio of 1,000:1 to 1,500:1)

- Lower Power Consumption

- Water Resistance

- Weight

- Ergonomics
Reviews are available. Here's one that compares three models:

thanks Jay. I think, well, know you're right. I bought a pair, not expensive from Amazon (with same day shipping) and it did look better almost immediately than my other glasses I had that were years old. The new ones look like they project the image better and it is more pronounced. I only did a sample, maybe a minute, but I def saw a difference. will give them the full test this weekend. thanks again, Jay!

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

This probably doesn’t belong here, but since there’s no 3D thread in the movies forum, I’ll just note here that I Saw a screening of DAWN OF THE DEAD (78) in 3D at TIFF here last Thursday. I’m sure other folks here probably saw it (or boycotted it) ages ago, so I’m kinda late to the game. It was the last of three showings and I figured none of them would probably be very crowded because it wasn’t Halloween, nor was it part of a special series or anything, but damned if the theatre wasn’t about three-quarters full. From what I’ve read, paying to see the film this way is tantamount to keeping the 2D original in home video limbo in North America because the producer is apparently determined to get his investment out of the 3D conversion, so that kinda sucks. But I will say that the conversion is excellent, and doesn’t make the film any worse, or any better. It’s still a classic to these eyes, and it was nice to see it on a big screen for the first time ever. The deep-focus setting of the mall and its long promenade and various narrow corridors are well served by the 3D. There are pop-outs, which surprised me for a conversion, but they were used very sparingly and mostly just quick bits of blood and flesh flying out of the screen during zombie kills (plus some guns pointing at the camera a couple of times). Not sure if those bits of flying gore were enhanced in any way, though (like CG?). I don’t know how long they plan to keep this version in circulation, but hopefully it’s nearing the point of having made its investment back so we can get the flat version properly released in a special edition over here before we all die of old age. And if they wanted to include the 3D edition in a combo pack, I’d be ok with that.

I would kill to own Dawn of the Dead (78) in 3D!

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

I saw Dawn of the Dead 3D at Regal back in October 2022. I thought it was pretty good too. I had to go out and get someone because they didn't flip 'the thing' (whatever it's called that is flipped down in front of the projector to split the beam) so the first 5-10 minutes were reverse 3D. It was a small theater, but pretty filled.

German label Turbine is launching a 3D line, beginning with these three English-friendly, import-friendly titles:

Glad to see they’re finally making good on their word to revive the Random Space Media 3D titles (minus SING 2, I guess). Now to wait it out and see if they have the clout (and sales figures) to pick up others that have been ignored on disc for the last couple of years. Apparently a rep mentioned on Facebook that they’re “working on it.”

This came up here last year, around March (starting with post #2385). Back then I was at around 540 (and still beat by a couple of champs around here). I’ve added whatever came out over the past year or so, but kinda lost count - maybe another five or ten? (MAN WHO WASN’T THERE, ROBOT MONSTER, PRISON GIRLS, etc). Added a bunch more import title to my ‘sell’ stock, too, which offsets the gains a bit: mostly forgettable animated films from gawd-knows-where voiced by Hollywood has-beens, a few lesser 3D docs (IMAX and science museum-type shows), and more than a few faux-3D German conversions that I should’ve known better than to buy.

615 for me right now, steered clear of the German auto conversions except for “JVCD” which I got for about 3 bucks and just need to see how bad it is.

According to DVD Profiler (removed duplicates, because it counts the box set and disc for some titles if the video>dimensions is 3D blu-ray), I'm at 621.
That includes VUDU/FAH.

And 25 anaglyph.

I got 559 3D Blu-rays based on a search on blu-ray.com . Those 3 from Turbine have shipped, so I'll soon be at 562.

Amazon US is listing some of the "Movienex" 4K + 3D Japan exclusive titles at a discount.

If the link above doesn't work, just do a search for "movienex" on Amazon US.

The titles available at a discount are:
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: VOLUME 3
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
  • Ralph Breaks the Internet

Keep in mind that in this case, even discounted, the titles are still ~$50 each.

I ordered 4 I didn't have yet, and it looks like they're shipping internationally from Japan.
