I didnt mention them just as i didnt mention enchanted christmas or Bambi II on the 2011 thread cause those are not part of the animated classics line they were produced and animated by Walt Disney Television animation.Originally Posted by ThePhantomGoat
Didn't the Lion King release also confirm that it's sequels are coming to blu in 2012? I guess they're technically available now, but it might be worth listing the single releases in the OP.
the thread is intended for the discussion of releases from that group of 51 animated titles that will be released in 2012.
I mean i guess its not that big of a deal but there are a lot of us online who primarily just fans of those core 51 disney films more so than the other animated releases that come out.
I guess to the average consumer they just look at them all as just being disney animated films no matter if its the classics line, the pixar line, the televsion DTV line heck then there are those who think that Anastasia, Thumbilina, All dogs go to heaven, Secret of Nyhm, American Tale etc, are all disney animated movies lol.

If you have the time and feel so inclined, could you add a list of the 51 classics to the OP and indicate which ones are already release on blu (and may already be back in the Disney vault) and which unreleased ones we expect when. I think that would tremendously help the average consumer/reader of this thread like myself.

I feel ya. Aladdin is part of the Diamond Edition group, so that means it's subject to the 2 titles per year limit. i.e. ain't gonna happen in 2012.Originally Posted by FriendofSonic
Is Aladdin ever gonna hit Blu? I recall reading a long time ago it was going to be, but then they substituted its release for another one we wound up getting instead. I mean, they're gonna release Pochahontas but not Aladdin? I've got nothing against Pochahontas, but c'mon

I stand corrected. As awil1026 says, it's not a Diamond Edition title. And, in fact, at least this page says that it's scheduled for a 2-disc 20th Anniversary release in 2012 (as Ranger says), so here's hoping!

I suspect we will see Aladdin hit bluray summer or winter 2012.
Its the 20th anniversary and seeing as its no longer considered a Diamond level title, it could easily be slotted in for a special edition release for next year, assuming the restoration work on it has been done allready.
while it might not have burned up the sales charts with that dvd release i think the decision to drop it from the Diamond line, was a bad move. The smaller than expected sales for the dvd(thanks in large part to lack of advertising campaign for the dvd release and no theatrical rerelease like Lion King, Beauty and Little Mermaid got prior to their home video re releases) doesnt change the fact that it was the first Disney Animated feature to top 200 million dollars in its inital release, and when you think about it other than the lion king no other Traditionaly Animated Disney movie has topped 200 million dollars domesticly at the box office.

I wanted to give all you Disney fans a heads up before this makes it over to the deals forums. Best Buy has marked down the Collectors sets on Snow White to $9.99 for the $250 set and to $29.99 for the $79 set. These are no longer on their website but I was able to find the $79 set in a local store this week. Unfortunately, someone beat me to the $250 set that has been collecting dust at one of my local stores for the past couple years.

I think it's the big circular one that includes all of the plushes of the dwarves and shit.
Edit: Dwarfs.

John, was this the one that was on sale for $9.99?
http://www.amazon.com/White-Dwarfs-L...9567589&sr=1-6
I found two of them in store today with tags on them for $149.99 and they were ringing up $49.99, so I passed

That was it. Looks like they changed the price online as well. Probably still not bad for $49.99 if you're into collecting the Disney Limited Edition sets.

I'll keep checking the site time to time to see if the price drops again. That BB is in the ghetto, so I'm sure they will still be there for awhile

For 2012, I hope Disney puts the following on blu-ray:
Hercules
The Prince of Egypt
Fritz the Cat

Hercules
The Prince of Egypt
Fritz the Cat

I've stated this before in the previous thread, but I really hope that Hercules comes out soon. It's the only animated classic that didn't receive a special edition re-release or an anamorphic transfer on DVD. I don't know why Disney skipped over this one.

^agree yes it wasn't a great film but still fun nonetheless

I'd love to have Titan A.E. on blue (even though Bluth loves to make his aliens too cartoony)... but isn't that a Fox flick?

Yes, Titan A.E. is Fox. Of the ones he listed, Hurcules is Disney, but the other 2 aren't.Originally Posted by TomOpus

Fritz the Cat is MGM
The Prince of Egypt is DreamWorks

Because Dumbo came out in 1941! It makes less sense that the UK and Mexico got a 70th Anniversary Edition in 2010 when the 70th anniversary was in 2011 (when the US disc was released).Originally Posted by AmityBoatTours
Not just mexico, but Uk and everywhere else. Know one is really quite sure why Disney Yanked it from the us release schedule last year when they did.
