Maybe if you all blow almost 40 dollars on it, and it sells out fast, it will show Sony there is demand for it. And they will come out with their own version down the line. I'm not gonna blow that much on one movie. At least with Criterion, the high MSRP is heavily discounted at stores like BN.

Easy pass for me even though I dig the movie. There's at least 40 catalog titles in my current wishlist that I'd take over this and they're only going for like 10-15 bucks a pop. And who's this little Twilight Time guy releasing it?, do they even have a good track record in the hidef world?

I admit that the price tag is high but I'm still ordering. At least it's a limited edition and it wasn't that long ago that all Blu-rays were in this price range. MODs of other obscure and cult films can cost $20 so for another $10 you get that beloved B movie in hi-def. Deal of the century? Of course not. I certainly wouldn't pay this for every movie but I'm willing to compromise for this film and Mysterious Island.

I'm part Polish too. Our great grandmothers really got around....

Anyone remember those not politically correct "official" joke books by Larry Wilde back in the 70s and 80s?

I wouldn't pay 40 bucks for just one dvd. It would have to have at least 3 discs for me to pony up that much. I really like Fright Night, so hopefully it would get a wider release soon or later.

It won't be on their website until it's available for pre-order, likely on November 14th.

I was on the fence as to if I really wanted this Blu that badly or not, but after seeing this post and remembering that there will only be 3000 copies, I went ahead and ordered.

Ordered. Still not happy that this really has no extras though. That's a huge disappointment. Still, can't wait to see a favorite in HD.

Went ahead and pre-ordered. The fact that Sony wouldn't release it to tie in with the remake says not to hold my breath for them to release their own version...

Re: Fright Night (1985): Twilight Time exclusive - 12/13/11

In case anyone doesn't know already, Tom Holland participated in two separate commentaries recorded for Icons of Fright. In addition to him, one also has Chris Sarandon & Jonathan Stark. On the other he is joined by William Ragsdale, Stephen Geoffreys, and FX Artist Randall William Cook.

You can download them here, and it says there are instructions to sync them with the film (Although it's for the DVD).

For me that takes a bit of the sting off this disc being pretty much bare bones. A little bit...

Edit: Reading back over the thread, I see these were mentioned a couple of times but there wasn't much info on them. I'll leave this post here with the link.

I was able to order Fright Night earlier today (along with the 1966 version of Stagecoach) but wasn't able to post about it here. Anyone else having trouble loading pages? Anyway, can't wait to get it. I'm also looking forward to watching Mysterious Island when I get a chance.

Use the code AMAZON for $10 off orders of $50 or more.

Re: Fright Night (1985): Twilight Time exclusive - 12/13/11

Because of the price, I thought I would maybe not pre-order this but..

I caved. I caved hard. I love this movie too much to miss out.

If a better, cheaper version comes out way down the line, I will get it too. It's Fright Night after all.

Re: Fright Night (1985): Twilight Time exclusive - 12/13/11

Although tempted I am holding out for now. Here's my rational. It makes little sense for a studio to spend the resources on a quality Blu-ray restoration but limit sales to 3,000. Either the transfer might be inferior or the studio has a plan for a larger scale release to recoup restoration funds. Maybe I am over emphasizing the cost of film enhancement/restoration.

Twilight Time has stated on Facebook that Sony has zero interest in releasing Fright Night on Blu-ray, so the latter is extremely unlikely.
