What's the $10 GC special?

Even though I will likely be buying 3 tickets to JP3D for my family, I just can't bring myself to buy that turd Lost World. I haven't seen JP3 since the theater so I honestly don't remember what I thought of it (though I do remember not hating it as I did #2).

Re: Jurassic Park: Ultimate Trilogy - 10/25/11

Has anyone heard if they did a new 2D transfer for the 3D release of Jurassic Park? Or should I buy the existing standalone release safe in the knowledge that all I'm missing out on is the 3D?

I've read that the new transfer was only for the 3D version. We should be getting the same 2D disc as before, unfortunately.

I went ahead and got the standalone 2D disc. It does feature the new 7.1 mix that was done for 3D.

I was over at the AVS forum, apparently there's been quite a bit of controversy about the new releases involving sound remixes, color tweaking, and the like.

It does have a great mix, not sure if it's the same one or not

supposedly the new mix sounds closer to the original 5.1 mix, whereas the first 7.1 wasn't supervised by Rydstrom himself.

The 3D version is $29.99 at Amazon, and will be the same price at both Target and Best Buy. You can get it for $24.99 at Best Buy with an upgrade/save coupon. That starts on 4/21.

I'll hold off until it can be had for $14.99. Perhaps on the next U&S sale.

The 3D version seems pretty high priced for a re-released catalog title. I might just pick up the trilogy set. I see that Target has it on sale for $34.99 until May sometime.

It has a 7.1 mix. I wasn't aware that there may be multiple 7.1 mixes for Blu-ray.

from what I'm gathering, is this

3D version: 4K transfer / new 'Gary Rydstrom approved' 7.1 remix
2D version: prior 2011 HD transfer / 2011 7.1 mix

I'm fine with that. The 2D transfer on the 3D disc will almost certainly be a single eye of the 3D transfer, which I think may be problematic.
