I frankly find it somewhat boring, but I couldn't resist at $12.34 in my Gold Box. If it weren't for the inclusion Terror, I'd probably hold out for a lower price. Still wish there was a Rosenthal commentary.

We haven't gotten it. Although they don't view my store as one they want to heavily push Blu-Rays in, so they don't send us a lot of catalog (unless I place orders ahead of time for them, and even then that isn't a guarantee).

Hell, I'm sure the only reason we're getting the Star Wars Blu-Rays is because we've had people pre-order them...

Someone posted a few screenshots of Halloween II and Terror in the Aisles on Blu-ray.com.

Blu-ray.com review - seems a little harsh to only give 2.0 for the extras, considering there's a full-length doc in HD with plenty of clips.

I watched it last night, and although the white scratches throughout were distracting, I thought the overall presentation looked pretty good.

Pretty shitty thing to do from Universal. They removed Moustapha Akkad's credit for no good reason.

The print itself is somewhat nicked up - there are white specks and markings that pop up on a regular basis. You know how Criterion's releases always state "Thousands of instances of dirt, debris, scratches, splices, warps, jitter, and flicker were manually removed..."? That ain't the case here. Still, there's no DNR or EE, and colors look quite satisfying. It's certainly worth the $12.99 if you're a fan of the film.

And after his death no less.
Its weird it still says Moustapha Akkad presents on the back of the cover art though.

I wonder if this will happen to HalloweenIII as well

Re: Halloween II -- 9/13/11

That screen shot looks like they used a print that somehow had the credit changed, not done for the Blu-Ray release. They hardly ever use "An MCA Company" on their new products, so that title card has gotta be old- maybe put there before the movie was released then taken out to make room for the Akkad credit. (Same sort of slip-up on that "Happy Birthday To Me" DVD that used temp music rather than the movie's regular music score.)

They should've replaced that long unskippable Universal HD intro (don't know if this Blu-Ray has it, but all their HD-DVDs do and so have the Blu-Rays I've seen from them) with this:

Who's treated the franchise worse? The Akkads or The Weinsteins?

I think the Akkads have been the saving grace to the series. They've kept it alive all these years and as a fan I'm appreciative of that. Sure there are going to be bad sequels but at least they try to produce some quality entries in the series. Moustapha really cared about the series unlike most horror producers who would just try to churn out another cash grab.

Re: Halloween II -- 9/13/11

I couldn't help myself and watched Terror In The Aisles the other night. I was going to save it for the October Horror Challenge.

I enjoyed it though it wasn't as good as I remembered...probably because I wasn't as familiar with the movies it features 25 years ago. Still, an awesome extra. Now we just need "It Came From Hollywood" added as the next extra on a another BD release.

Weinsteins, by a mile.

The Akkads actually listen to the fans and try to make the best films they can. But once whatever they come up with is turned over to the Weinsteins, it usually goes to shit.

There's actually a FB fan page to boycott this release based on the credit change. I'm not going to go that far, but I think it's very disrespectful to Moustapha, and I know Malek had no clue it happened.

So does this have the TV ending on the disc somewhere?

Yes, it's on there as the "alternate ending."

Re: Halloween II -- 9/13/11

Universal has released a statement about the Halloween II Blu Ray issue.
From the Facebook page.

"Universal promises to "make it right"! We are not sure what that means yet...but you can be sure that everyone's support here played a big part! We won't let up yet, but will say THANK YOU to all the fans who spoke up for the man who gave so much to this series. More details as soon as we get them..."

So are they going to re-release the BD with the corrected credits and have some kind of redemption program?

Re: Halloween II -- 9/13/11

I'd exchange my disc simply because I don't support making uneeded changes like this. And because "Moustapha Akkad Presents" is synonymous with the film's opening. Altering it makes it look funny.

Yeah... I don't really care about a credit that bad.

If they fix this minor issue and neglect the Audio screw up on Conan The Barbarian, I'll be pissed with good reason.

Re: Halloween II -- 9/13/11

I'd seriously take the time out of my day to do whatever they asked for the replacement. This is a trivial thing but disrespectful and unnecessary. I hope they actually do fix it.
