Anyone with the current versions know if anything is missing from the other movies in terms of extras (aside from Casnio Royale) of course. There was only the single-disc version of Quantum, right? So that one's the same.

Depends if the specs are complete or not. The box set lists these as the only extras:

· DISC TWENTY TWO—Quantum of Solace (Over 1 hour of content)

o 2 Featurettes

o "Another Way to Die" Music Video

o Original Theatrical Trailers

But this is what's on the current 1 disc.

The newer 2 disc dvd and subsequent blu-ray of Die Another Day is missing the 80 minute "Inside Die Another Day" doc, multi-angle features and theatrical trailers from the first 2 disc dvd.

Bigger Pic

FOX is big on books, evidenced by their Alien Anthology, Star Wars and Planet of the Apes sets. Two of those came out later in individual Blu-ray plastic cases.

I don't think there's any confirmation on the region coding. I believe a few pages back someone said that they'll actually most likely be region locked.

I concur that they'll likely be locked. But I'm region-free and thusly don't care ;)

Re: James Bond Update

The bonus features listing is kind of generic; it doesn't give the titles of the featurettes included, etc., so it's not really possible to see if anything from the previous DVDs/BDs is being dropped (except that Casino Royale does seem to be missing items from the two-disc as pointed out).

I have every single one of the two-disc DVDs and I'm not parting with any of them until a more detailed list of extras is available (which I realize may not be until just before the set comes out). There's just an incredible archive of Bond lore on those discs (and on the BDs, for the movies that got BD release previously).

According to the guys at blu-ray.com this will be region free like the individual releases.

I love that book, sucks I have almost all of them in either DVD or blu-ray. If it ever reaches a low price point or I find it for cheap used I'll grab it. But it might not happen for a few years if at all...

I like it too. And it looks thin enough where I can easily find a place to squeeze it in - a lot easier than individual blu-cases would be.

From Bill Hunt via FB:

"UPDATE for all Bits readers following me here RE: Bond 50 BD extras - I've just heard back from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. As expected, the list posted yesterday - and included in the official press release - was simply a "marketing highlights" summary. The comprehensive list of extras on the discs in the box set is significantly longer. We'll post additional details as the studio makes them available."

of the few Fox UK discs I have, they haven't region locked them - why would this be the exception? - I don't want the book and I sure as hell don't want to pay close to two hundred bucks when the UK is 75 dollars less (give or take the conversion rate).

Looks like Amazon.com has sweetened the deal a bit with an exclusive bonus item . . .
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006U1J5ZY/

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...8L_AA1500_.jpg

The un-excerpted version of the poster book publishes in September and will supposedly be 304 pages. Curious to know how many pages this "excerpted" version will be . . .

.

Digital Bits just posted from Comic-Con that the Bond set will have an empty space for Skyfall. Look at MGM, actually planing ahead.

This was already announced a few months ago - the set will include Skyfall 'video blogs' as well.

So we're supposed to throw away our SKYFALL box and put the disc in here? I don't think so...and what if SKYFALL is a 2-disc release? Also seems silly since SKYFALL will certainly NOT be the final James Bond movie (and not even the final one with Daniel Craig).

Why not? I'm all for uniformity and space saving.

and what if SKYFALL is a 2-disc release?
That could be a complication, although perhaps MGM isn't sure at this point whether Skyfall will be a two-disc set.

Obviously it won't be, but what's wrong with future-proofing, even if only for one release? If MGM didn't include a Skyfall slot, people would be bitching about the lack of a Skyfall slot.

Well you don't have to throw the Skyfall case away if you don't want obviously it's up to you. I guess it just seems like a nice option they included the space in case people do want to put their disc there. Also obviously yes the box won't be complete as long as Bond films keep being made. What do you expect them to do though keep releasing a new box every time a new film is released? At least this way the box is current through the 50th Anniversary.

This box set celebrates the first 50 years of the Bond movie franchise, which covers Dr. No to Skyfall.

If the first three are released indivdually I will be all over them. If not oh well. I am not buying that box set. I refuse to have to buy Moonraker.

I don't care what the box looks like, as long as it's not a giant book containing 21 other movies.

Judging by the photos, that is exactly what it appears to be.
