Re: James Bond Update

I bought several of the anniversary blu rays from a couple years ago. The cover art was among the better ones of video releases. These steelbooks look pretty nice. I wish that the they would release them with original poster art though.

Damn, I really like the Craig ones. I wish Best Buy would still do the upgrade and save.

Re: James Bond Update

So it's the six titles related to SPECTRE ((FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THUNDERBALL, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY) and the three Craig films. I'm only missing a couple of Bonds on Blu and can't remember if Diamonds is one of them. I know I have the rest already (mostly skipped the crappier Moore films).

Re: James Bond Update

Dr. No was mentioned in FRWL as being a member of SPECTRE so it should have been released as a steelbook too.

Re: James Bond Update

Fortunately I'm not an insane steelbook collection like some, so I have no interest in those. I'm perfectly fine with my Bond 50 collection, which includes my added Skyfall disc.

Now I will just await SPECTRE come November.

Re: James Bond Update

Dang. When do those steelbooks come out? I might be a sucker and get the Craig ones even though I already own them on BD.

EDIT: nevermind. They're already up for pre-order on bestbuy.com and I caved. I'm such a sucker, but at least they're only $12.99.

Yeah, that stood out to me too. I suppose the counter-argument to that would be that SPECTRE is never actually mentioned in Dr. No. It was ret-conned in during the next movie.

I'd forgotten about that. Dr. No definitely ought to get a SteelBook, then.

Re: James Bond Update

Well Dr No didn't have a proper opening title sequence, so the cover wouldn't have looked good anyway.

Dr. No indeed did have a proper opening title sequence with animated dots and multi-colored dancing silhouettes.

It's perhaps not as slick as the later movies, but I'm sure something could be done with it.

Re: James Bond Update

I guess it would be safe to assume Casino Royale is just the single disc with the U.S cuts.

Re: James Bond Update

Looks like Target has the reissued Bond blu's with UV codes and Moviecash for Spectre. And yet again, different artwork on the front.

Did they have all of the Bonds at Target or just those 6 titles?

I just saw these in one spot, but with the crappy way they have stuff in shelves, it wouldn't surprise me if they had more in another area.

And Best Buy's offerings. And whatever those 2 new featurettes are on the box set, they look to be digital only, not on a disc.

Re: James Bond Update

I like how there's space reserved for Spectre....as if that's the last Bond movie that will ever be made.

Re: James Bond Update

Dunno why, but the steelbooks look a little less impressive/less cool in person than they did in pics.

Re: James Bond Update

Really surprised they don't all come with movie cash for Spectre. That seems like a no brainier promotional opportunity.

Dont' they keep doing that? Or was it just Skyfall that had an open placement for it in a set? In the BD era...

Re: James Bond Update

I thought the Bond 50 set having that empty spot for Skyfall made sense since that movie was in the first 50 years. But having one for Spectre in this new set doesn't make sense, only to future proof it for one additional movie.

Re: James Bond Update

The empty slot for the next movie has been a common practice. The DVD boxed sets that came out in 1999-2000 had a slot for The World Is Not Enough.

Re: James Bond Update

It's a nice idea to leave extra space for the upcoming film but yeah most sets like this for film franchises that continue to put out new films are sort of pointless as they'll always be incomplete. That's why I tend to buy single releases as opposed to boxed sets unless it's a franchise that has finished.
