Why wait? Are you hurting for shelf space? $99 is great. I bought the set for $129 and thought that was already a good deal. You're not going to find that price for 22 movies anytime soon.

Sadly, I am hurting for shelf space. And my funds are almost depleted. So it's a lose-lose for me.

Re: James Bond Update

I'm tempted, but only need 5 or 6 more of the BDs to complete the set. I guess I could sell my recently purchased individuals BDs and save a few bucks overall, but I'll likely pass.

Re: James Bond Update

I wanted this set since its release so purchasing it at $100 felt like an early Christmas gift.

I have few of the Blu-ray steelbooks and I might sell those since I have no need for them now.

Awesome deal! I bought it for $150 at release and don't regret it at all. For $99, it's a steal.

Got in for this also. Thank goodness I had a stack of BDs already which led me to waiting to buy this. Can't pass up this price.

Deal is now dead. Replaced by the Forever Marilyn blu set. First I've ever seen a DotD get replaced mid day.

Clearly, I shouldn't have hesitated on this. Oh well, I have a feeling we'll see it at this price again sometime.

Re: James Bond Update

I want it, but I really dislike the packaging. Especially when I consider the fact that more Bond films are certainly coming, and the Skyfall Blu won't match every other disc in the set (nerd problems). I'm half tempted to just wait for better packaging.

Re: James Bond Update

What do you mean the Skyfall Blu won't match? As in the disc art itself? I'm not a fan of any cardboard book, but this set is alright, it even calls out that this is Bond 50, the first 50 years. Adding in Skyfall would complete it. I'm guessing the disc art will match the rest of the discs in the set. First time MGM put actual thought into the Bond releases.

Re: James Bond Update

I'd rather have them all in a smaller case. That's part of the reason I didn't jump on the $99 price tag. And I know I won't ditch the packaging (my OCD won't allow that) so even if I make a custom case, I'll be stuck with an oversized box.

Pretty much that, that the disc art won't match. I'd almost guarantee they won't match the art even though they left a spot for it. It'll be even worse if the BD is 2 discs.

Re: James Bond Update

It would have been a good deal getting the Bond set for $99 today but I'm sort of glad I didn't too as I didn't really want to dish over more money to Amazon Plus I decided a while back I'd rather just have them all separate and I've already bought eleven of the single releases. The only thing that sort of bothers me is that the older releases have different style artwork but whatever.

Re: James Bond Update

Some of you people are honestly crazy. It is in an enclosed box that you have to open to the certain page to even see the disc. And then half of the disc is covered. Who honestly gives a shit? How often are you going to open the box of that certain section of that certain page and display your half covered disc?

A company sells 22 freaking movies in a nicely built package for 100 bucks and some of you guys shit your pants with whining and complaining. Obviously the whiners don't remember the Laserdisc years very well.

I do remember laserdisc and opted out. The audio and video were great but I hated the LP sized discs and having to flip mid-movie.

As for the Bond set, I frankly don't like the packaging at all.

Re: James Bond Update

The funniest thing about the bitching is the fact that people in this very thread are making the statement that Fox will LIKELY release this title with different disc art. Based on NOTHING. Nothing but the desire to bitch.

We'll know soon enough.

It seems the DVD set is out of stock or out of print.

Geez, you guys don't know the difference between expressing a possible concern and outright bitching, do you? Fuckin' internet.

Re: James Bond Update

Okay, back to talking about the Bond movies.

I have question that I don't know has been addressed or not. I have the Bond 50 set. But, I also own the Bond Ulimate Edition DVD Box sets from FOX that was released a few years ago. In addition, I also own the 3 Box sets of the MGM Special Editions from 10 years ago.

I hate owning so many fucking copies of the same movies. I'm probably going to keep the MGM Box sets for the cool artwork and Die Another Day's 90 minute documentary that wasn't included with the BD.

So, my question is, Is there anything worth keeping in the FOX Ultimate Edition Box sets? Or has pretty much everything been ported over to the new Bond 50 set? I'm thinking about selling them at my local FYE and getting what I can for them before they drop in value.

Re: James Bond Update

All of the Blu-ray's are essentially High Def versions of the Ultimate Edition DVD's.

The only differences are the 9 titles that were missing up until this batch do not contain the Mission Control Interactive Guide feature (whatever that is).

And, as you mentioned, Die Another Die (as on the Ultimate Edition DVD) is missing significant special features from the original 2-disc release.
