I know you are joking but damn, I despise that movie. Wish I could burn the negative and strike it from ever being mentioned. It is beyond awful. A spoof that is not even remotely funny.

For a decent spoof without the James Bond name but released around the same time, watch the Flint movies. But even those are pretty lame.

After calling maybe 10 Walmarts and a 68 mile round trip, I finally found one that stocked Octopussy. The other 9 or so had Diamonds and Goldeneye, but no Octopussy. And it wasn't just that they were sold out, they didn't carry it. What is up with that? You have three exclusives and you decide a majority of your stores will only carry 2 of them (and the 2 newest Bond films)?
F'n stupid.

I found this to be the case at the Super Walmart I went to as well. The regular Walmart I kept checking told me they don't expect to get them at all. At least I got GoldenEye.

I guess I'll get a few more of these when they stop being retailer exclusives.

I've never understood that. I mean, I'm not a massive Bond fan, I've only got the Brosnans and Craigs on DVD, but I've never understood why NSNA is treated so poorly when the story comes from a previous Bond writer and it's got Sean Freaking Connery. If it was another actor, I could understand, but Connery is so iconic, you'd think they'd keep it with the rest.

Still looks great PopcornTree.

One of the biggest issues is that it's the same story and characters as Thunderball, which is a better treatment of the story and a better all around film.

Stephen Chow did a 007 parody titled "From Beijing with Love" (1994). Its not too bad.

Thanks.

I wonder if the issues about Octopussy have anything to with the word "pussy" in the title. Wal-Mart is pretty uptight about those things. I was actually worried I might not find it on the shelves because of that reason.

No Octopussy at my Walmart. :( Got the other two though. Bummer since there aren't any Walmarts very close to me.

I got all of them, too. I hate the cover art for most of them - it looks so generic and bland. Totally uninspired for most of them (although The Living Daylights, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and a couple others look really good).

I mean, yeah, cover art is a trivial thing, but you'd think that with this much money on the line that they'd at least come up with some artwork that actually looks good! Something eye catching, not something that you could easily miss on the shelves if you didn't know what you were looking for. I think most fan made covers look better...

Bestbuy.com has a 2-day sale with the full box set priced at $149.99. Amazon has matched.

You know the more I think of it, I bet they're not carrying that title in many stores because of the title itself and the word "pussy". That sounds stupid enough to be a Walmart policy.

I'm surprised they didn't take the liberty to just change it themselves to Octokitty.

If that's the case, then this is the most poorly thought-out promotion ever. "We would like to be the exclusive carrier of a title that we refuse to put on the shelf."

... or a deviously well thought-out way to suppress products they don't like.

I can only imagine the bureaucracy at a place as big as Walmart given my experience with it at a smaller retail home office.

I could see the marketing people agreeing to the Bond thing, and the when store operations gets involved they put the kibosh on it way later after complaints.

The Bond titles at Best Buy are still $9.99 each. Someone on blu-ray.com said they're staying that price until 11/17.

Sort of off topic... but if your are a fan of the cars in the movie:

Top Gear's 50 years of James Bond’s greatest cars
Monday, November 12 at 8:30/7:30c on BBC America.
(if you don't want to wait, you know where you can get the BBC UK version since it has already been aired.)

I've followed this thread but might've missed it given this is now 12 pages, but is there anything on the Ultimate Edition DVDs that's not on these Blu-rays?

The 'Mission Control' features are missing from the 9 new titles.

The You Only Live Twice Documentary(narrated by Patrick Macnee) isn't on the Blu-ray. They do have the 50 minute made for tv special on the blu-ray which is 50 minutes of wasted time.

According to reviews at blu-ray.com & HighDefDigest, the Patrick Macnee doc is on the disc.

Unless it's hidden somewhere-I didn't see it. They can't make things simple enough so I save the dvds and watch the special features from there, also.

They have no clue how to put out special features where the regular Joe can figure it out.

There so far as been no DVD Talk review of the James Bond box set.

I'm not at home at the moment to check which menu option it's filed under, but the "Inside You Only Live Twice" documentary (narrated by Macnee) is definitely on the Blu-ray. And my copy of the box set came from Amazon, so it's not like I have a special advanced screener that may differ from retail versions.
