Dumbo has been out in other territories for how long now? What makes you think Disney is going to have a change of heart and release it in North America ASAP?

Importing isn't that expensive. If you need to have the movie now, you can have the movie now.

Not even a year.

Re: Bambi: Diamond Edition - 3/1

I've only imported like four BDs ever, and there are only a few more I'd consider. I imported Woodstock because it contained all the bonus materials from the two different U.S. exclusive versions (Amazon and Target). I imported Jarhead because it contained all of the special features, whereas the U.S. release didn't have any other than I think a commentary. I imported The Boat That Rocked because the U.S. only got the edited-down Pirate Radio version and I highly doubted that we would ever get the full film. I imported The Quick And The Dead because it contained a sex scene with Sharon Stone that was never released in the U.S., theatrically or on home video.

There are a few others I'm considering (such as Payback, Kung Fu Hustle, and Dances With Wolves) because they contain versions of the films not available in the U.S., and it's unlikely that they will ever be released here that way. I'd consider Man On Fire as well, because it retains all of the special features that are missing from the U.S. release. I generally do not like non-Region A releases. I hate the ugly ratings logos plastered all over the packaging. I hate the jumbo cases that they come in. I'm good with waiting for U.S. releases, unless it's painfully obvious that there's something we'll never get.

I always get a grin when I see people say they won't buy an import because it has too large a case or a large ratings logo or no slipcase. Too funny. If I wanted to import a disc from another country, the last thing I care about is how the package looks. The reason I'm getting it is for exclusivity not artwork.

I've enjoyed my import of Dumbo since the beginning of April 2010. It cost me $25. I'll probably get the U.S. release too if I can get it for $10. I'll spend a little more if it has more extras.

I don't need the movie now, that is the point. I can wait, and buy from an American retailer. Have the box be in english, and have a consistent looking Disney collection. It's not like the US isn't getting Disney release after Disney release. We'll see Dumbo eventually. No big deal.

Way to single out one detail of my post. The point is, I don't need Dumbo right now, so will therefore wait for the US release. The horror! Can you imagine?

Dumbo is a title I'd like to own at some point, but not something I can't live without for a second longer. My backlog is big enough as is without the need to import...

The image you linked is of the region locked version from the UK. The only region free one is the Mexican one which does not look like that at all, it looks like what Nick posted above.

But there IS a completely English front and back Dumbo was my point. The fact that it's not a R1 shouldn't be an issue. It's available and all-region players are too.

Re: Bambi: Diamond Edition - 3/1

Not everyone has an all-region player. And not everyone needs Dumbo immediately.

Damn, I must be in the wrong thread. I could have sworn I clicked on the thread to find out the latest information for the Bambi Blu Ray that comes out tomorrow.

Mine shipped out Saturday, thought I'd get lucky and have it today... but guess I'll have to give it a viewing after work tomorrow. Can't wait

How exactly am I wrong? Everything I said is a fact. So what if everyone doesn't have an all-region player. They're like a $100. There's no excuse NOT to own one. There are so many great non R1 titles out there with no release dates in sight. You can wait all you want. I buy what is available to me.

Well look at Mr. Money Bags over here. You go ahead and keep buying anything and all, my friend.

You're wrong in that we're Region A, not Region 1, as far as Blu-rays go. So there.

To keep this thread somewhat on track, I hate that Disney is using those cheap, flimsy Blu-ray cases for their releases. It makes the product feel so cheap.

I love when people who import act as though they're better than the rest of us who choose to wait for the non-import release.

But I'd definitely rather wait a while for the release so I can get the $10 Off Coupon and pay like $12-14, rather than pay $25-30 for the import. I have such a backlog of stuff to watch anyway, and I have Dumbo on DVD, so I don't need to watch it in HD right away, I can wait a bit. But hey, if you just have to see Dumbo in HD and can't wait, more power to you. I imagine the people who have imported have only watched it one time since they got it, but I guess it's the having it that really matters.

Absolutely not. I've been defending myself. I started by providing info about the availability not that I owned it. Read the thread.
