I cant tell if the Extended Cut runtime is 140 minutes, 143 or 148.

Either way, theres AT LEAST 15 minutes extra

It's 148mins from what it says on there. That's 23 mins...jesus. It'd better be substantial scenes added or extended cuz otherwise..that's the worst kind of fluff for a film that I thought was well paced.

Re: The Town (Extended) --> 12/17/10

I remember an interview with Affleck where he mentioned he ended cutting out a lot of scenes he loved, some great character moments, just to make the theatrical cut a more brisk experience. Unfortunately I don't remember where I read that.

Great film, just saw it 2 weeks ago. Will definitely get this one. Especially with the extended cut.

However, just wait until the "What BR's are you getting thread?" with this in it and everyone will say...None. Or people will bitch in the Best Buy and Target threads when it's priced at $24.99 or $26.99 and refuse to get it unless it's $19.99 or less.

Why keep you waiting until the Best Buy and Target ads for that? I'll definitely add The Town to my collection as it was a very good thriller. I can wait for it to be $15 or less though! In fact, I can probably wait for this one to hit $10 (as I don't mind buying used).

It looks like Best Buy is getting an exclusive on this blu-ray and the price right now is only $19.99. Its just the generic best buy posting right now so no real info on what the exclusive actually is going to be.

Probably to maximize number of voters who have seen it before Oscar nominations...

I'm betting that exclusive version at Best Buy is a BD only edition. The regular version is a BD/DVD/DC combo pack. WB did the same thing at Walmart with Splice and the Elm Street remake.

Well, I think the idea with the Wal-Mart "reduced" versions is that they'd be cheaper. Makes sense for Wal-Mart, but not so much for Best Buy.

That exclusive version is listed at $19.99 on Best Buy's website, currently $10 less than the combo pack. I would say it's a BD only edition.

I believe this may be the first blind buy blu for me (if it is cheap enough that is). Agree completely about the Affleck comment. Really looking forward to this one.

Looking forward to seeing this again. When I saw it it was the third movie I'd seen that day and I hadn't had much sleep, so I dozed during some of it, but really liked it. Can't wait to watch it while fully awake.

Is the 1-Disc just the Theatrical Cut?

And of course, Amazon has now lowered the combo pack down to $19.99.

Is this one worth picking up for the extras? Loved the movies but are the extras worth it?

They're decent. Affleck does a commentary which I didn't listen to all the way through and there are 35-ish minutes of Focus Points that you can watch during the movie or by themselves that show some good behind the scenes footage.

Re: The Town (Extended) --> 12/17/10

I will be watching this for the first time over Xmas weekend, and I have two questions:
1. Should I view the theatrical or extended cut on my initial viewing?

2. Is this movie OK to watch with 12-14 year olds?
Thanks!

Re: The Town (Extended) --> 12/17/10

I've seen both cuts and I have to say I think I prefer the shorter theatrical version. Maybe if the extended was 15min longer instead of nearly 30 that would've been a good cut, but as it is there are just too many mediocre and poor scenes.

As for your second question (definitely theatrical cut in this case, lol) I have no idea what you'd consider OK, but it's a cops and robbers movie... harsh but not glorifying the violence and stuff either. Not exactly Christmas movie material imo, but to each their own...

I don't mind a little gun play, (these kids DO have Xbox, after all), but I was mostly concerned about nudity, simulated sex, etc.
