Movie was good but not enough for the briefcase. I got the case for Blade Runner but that movie is a classic. I'll just settle for the regular Blu, thank you :)

Definitely blind-buying this as well.

Feel like I'm one of maybe a handful of people on the planet who hasn't seen it.

five days after my birthday - !!

if this doesn't have 'Maximum Movie Mode' I'll tear my hair out! (or is 'Extraction Mode' another name for it?)

Yes.

That's a pretty underwhelming set of extras - I assume this will get a re-release next summer?

Mr. Cinema 10-14-10 08:56 AM

Re: Inception- December 7th, 2010

If you look at most WB new releases, they all seem to have lackluster extras. TDK is loaded, so I assumed Inception would be. But it seems like most of their titles definitely are a little skimpy in the special features department.

Looking forward to picking this up. Pre-ordered it as well.

From the comments at DVDActive:

Heard the Blu-ray has
- an interactive Extraction Mode "in-movie" viewing option
- the Dreams: Cinema of the Subconscious featurette
- the Inception: The Cobol Job animated prequel short
- an interactive 5.1 Inception Soundtrack option with composer Hans Zimmer
- a gallery of conceptual and promotional artwork
- trailers and TV spots
- and the Project Somnacin: Confidential Files BD-Live option.
(bulleted for easier reading)

I think when you pair those up with the featurettes from the DVD, which are also included on top of those extras, it seems substantially heftier.

If Future Shop gets the steelbook packaging that has been rumored for this, then day one purchase for me.

The big difference is Inception was actually good where Avatar was a over-hyped piece of junk with a crappy story, but its okay because it looked pretty and dazzled people..

Add one.

I don't go to the movies, ever. The movies come to me.

Also, I bit torrented Avatar, and didn't think it merited a purchase....very meh.

no offense..but that's just not cool. Bit torrenting a film. :(

Funny thing is those two films are probably the two this year that most demand being seen on a big screen.

:)

Is the DVD in the UK set also region free or just the blu ray disc? I'm trying to decide if the UK set is worth the money if the DVD will be useless.

FWIW, Columbia House has this up for pre-order at $21.57. I think that I'll grab it there the next time they have a BOGO code.

I'm pretty sure it's against forum rules to tell people you pirated a movie...isn't it?

Michael Corvin 10-15-10 12:34 PM

Re: Inception- December 7th, 2010

It's generally frowned upon, but I think the rules just state no discussion on HOW to pirate movies. Then again, I haven't read the rules in ages.

Update to my previous CH post-today only, CH has a buy 2, get 1 free on all Blu-rays(including preorders). Unfortunately, you'll have to pay $6.97 in shippng.

I don't need some fancy set. Regular BD for me will do nicely.

Well, I did see Avatar in IMAX 3-D and was pretty blown away, but the further I got away from it the less impressed I was so I didn't feel compelled to buy it and see it again.

Inception I just flat-out missed because I don't go to the theaters that much other than kids' movies. I will get it on Blu tho.

Good luck with that....CH hasn't had a BOGO for BDs in more than a year and a half now...at this point it really doesn't look like they will offer one again....

I know. I was talking about the freebie being an SD DVD(I give out the SD DVDs as presents since my family hasn't jumped on the HD wagon).

Re: Inception- December 7th, 2010

Hmm, well, the Blu-Ray rear cover was posted at DVDActive, and indeed, the packaging does NOT list the features from the DVD. Confusing. Perhaps they're in the PiP track; but then why does the UK Collector's Edition I ordered come with 3 discs (indicating one is "a disc of special features") when the US only has the Blu and the DVD/Digital Copy?

Right now it's being offered to WB Insider members only (though this will change unless supplies run out). If it doesn't show up, check to see whether you're logged in or not.

Bingo. I don't think this movie is even release date must have. Will wait for an Amazon discount.

I wonder what's with WB doing black-and-white disc artwork now.

Regardless of whether I'll get the briefcase or the standard edition, I'm definitely looking forward to a third go-around with Inception.:up:
