Wasn't there some noise at one point about a re-release of 2001, possibly including the recently discovered deleted footage as an extra?

Re: Lolita and Barry Lyndon coming in 2011
Someone took a comment by Douglas Trumbull out of context. The next thing you know, there are essays everywhere discussing the morality of inserting cut footage back into the movie as though there'd been an official press release or something.
It turns out Warner Bros and the Kubrick estate have known exactly which salt mine they buried the footage in 50 years ago. And they intend to let it stay buried.

I'm holding out hope that Criterion remasters Spartacus. Also, I thought there was talk of a new anniversary release of Full Metal Jacket next year.

That links to "The Awakening" ...
I think this is what you meant to use: Lolita 50th Anniversary
5/30/12 release date.

Re: Lolita and Barry Lyndon coming in 2011
* Commentary with Adam Baldwin, Vincent D'onofrio, R. Lee Ermey, and screenwriter/author Jay Cocks
* Full Metal Jacket: Between Good and Evil behind-the-scenes featurette
* Theatrical trailer
* Stanley Kubrick's Boxes documentary
Boxes was an excellent documentary, and seeing as how I don't have the original Blu, I'll definitely pick this up. Wished they ditched the digibook design, though.

I won't deny that it's barebones, but the transfer is very nice. And I don't see them rushing out an uberedition of one of his least popular films, despite it's quality.

IMDB says 48 minutes. The blu-ray.com news item for this release lists the other extras as the same as what's available now, so I would assume it's the same blu-ray as currently available, with the DVD tossed in.

Yeah that sounds like the same features plus the Boxes doc. Boxes is REALLY GOOD. I have it saved on my DVR from a Sundance Channel broadcast. It could have been twice as long and held my interest.

I had actually never heard of it until this announcement, but now after looking it up, I am very much intrigued by it.

I also feel exactly the same way except replace Kubrick with Fred Dekker and replace "The Shining" with "Monster Squad" and then change the part about finding it a chore to watch to say that its overrated but perfectly watchable. So yeah, it's the same thing.

They better release it with an option for the 1.66 aspect ratio. I watched the blu-ray and then the 1.66 DVD the next week and it is was two different experiences. Full Metal Jacket 1.33 was a lot better as well but best not to get into that debate.

No idea. I don't even know if it was recorded. All I know is up until release day, all the advertising and product descriptions had it listed as an extra feature, but when the disc came out... it wasn't there. No comment from Warners and as far as I know, no one has come forward who knows anything about it. If the recording does exist, I would really be eager to hear it.

In that interview, Jan Harlan stated the following:
"I am glad there is no commentary on “Eyes Wide Shut.” The film is complex. Stanley Kubrick worked on the script, on and off, for three decades. Explanations are bound to fail. Every viewer will be an expert on sexual fantasy and jealousy and will find his or her individual connection to this complicated film–or not, as the case may be. Let it suffice to say that Stanley Kubrick considered “Eyes Wide Shut” his greatest contribution to the art of the cinema. Let the audience try to tune in to Kubrick’s frequency–it’s worth the trouble. It may take two or three viewings, though."

Every commentary is different. It doesn't have to be a blow-by-blow analysis of what's "really" going on. I'd like to just hear thoughts about what it was like to work with Kubrick, the MPAA regarding the orgy, etc.
