Lolita and Barry Lyndon coming in 2011

So a lot of you have probably been wondering, where are Warner's Blu-rays of Lolita and Barry Lyndon?
Well... that's a question we here at The Bits have been asking the folks at Warner Home Video for months now. And today, they surprised us with an answer! Yes, both Lolita and Barry Lyndon are currently being prepared for Blu-ray Disc release by the studio in 2011. And here's the even better news: They hinted that the films are going to be available both as singles AND as part of a new Stanley Kubrick Blu-ray Collection!

I may hold out for the Kubrick Collection in hopes that they will put the Kubrick doc on the set as well. Either way, great news for these two. I'll be getting both one way or another.

I really hope the collection doesn't add new film-specific features or better image quality to the already-released blu-rays of Kubrick's films.

With that said, it's excellent news that Lolita and Barry Lyndon are FINALLY getting Blu releases...

great news on the single releases
have all the other releases thus far so don't care about v1.0 of the blu box set, not going to fall into that trap again

Well dammit. I'd like to own a Kubrick box set but I've already got 2001, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket on Blu-ray. Too bad they just didn't release all the films and the box set at once. I guess its not a big deal since its most likely just the discs in a box but still..

I'm totally in for Lolita and Barry Lyndon. I already have the DVD's but will have no problem upgrading them for my Kubrick in HD collection.

Last time I saw Barry Lyndon was on VHS, so I welcome the upgrade. And since the only Kubrick BD I have is 2001, I'll probably get this box set, and give the DVD box set to a friend down the line.

I still have no idea why they decided to leave these 2 out of the special edition reissues a while back. Didn't make sense, but I still bought the DVD boxset anyway for the extras.

Count me in for Lolita. I might get the Box Set but i'm not a fan of all his work so I doubt I will. I already own 2001 & Full Metal Jacket

So, because you've already bought copies of these movies, you don't want improved versions to ever be released? And if improved versions were released, you wouldn't be able to just be happy for the people who hadn't already bought them?

Awesome! Can't wait to add both to my collection!
Barry Lyndon may not be the greatest of all his films but it is, imho, the most well shot of all his movies. Should look amazing in HD! Lolita is a classic... it'll be interesting to see if they matte it to 1.85:1 or keep it 4:3.

The only Kubrick film I have on Blu-ray is the only one I've ever seen: Eyes Wide Shut. I'm a little excited at the prospect of another Kubrick Collection, hoping that the next release won't feel like just ported over content from a DVD release, but rather something new.
Regardless of all that, it's nice to know that when I finally get around to seeing either of these two films, I'll be able to do so on Blu-ray.
