re: Star Wars

Does anyone else find it appropriate that they had Vader on stage pledging the support of the Galactic Empire for this release? It's like Lucas knows how his fans view him.

$140 MSRP for all 6 is very un-Lucas. And I assume the SE versions?

any word on changes/extras on these?

TPM CGI yoda?

Fixed stupid errors (Vader pink lightsaber, etc) ?

Other than the one link Matthew posted, I'm not finding any coverage of this press announcement.

Still a little cheaper than expected - $139 US for the complete set (9 discs), $69 US for either trilogy (3 discs each). It does look like the bonus stuff would only be in the complete set.

September is also a bit earlier than expected.

the TPM CGI Yoda I think is already a sure thing considering it was already shown as such during the Star Wars Concert tour last year.

From the trailer for the promo, it didn't look like they've fixed Vader's pink saber and it's weird interaction with Luke's when they struck together in front of the Emperor.

I'll lock in at at least $89.99. That's a great price I think.

He does, his last appearance on The Daily Show confirmed that he knows people hate him and the changes, but he doesn't care.

I'm in for the whole set. I've never been a stickler about the changes, and never did buy the prequels on DVD.

Warning: If you haven't seen these films yet, there are major spoilers in the individual movie descriptions on Amazon.

Did they release any pictures of the set yet?

No it's not. Every Star Wars DVD release has been in September.

I'll wait for it to appear in my goldbox.

Wow...fantastic price on Amazon. I was a definite "no" on this...but the last few months I've been rethinking my stance. My son has started to get interested in Star Wars (he's only 2 and a half) with his mini mighty mugg figures that he got for Christmas.

But...after watching that video on starwars.com I don't think I can do it. I found myself cringing watching the prequel stuff. I was hoping time away from the prequels would let me relax my views and look at them in a better light...and unfortunately that is not the case. I'm still up in the air on the Original Trilogy SE on Blu-ray though. I'm glad Lucasfilm decided to offer both separate so I don't have to fork over the full $90 if I change my stance on the SE's.

Still...crazy good pricing. Kudos to Lucasfilm for that and for the fans that enjoy the prequels and the SE's.

As lifelong huge fan (nothing Lucas can do will ever kill my love for the original story and characters), I'll likely buy the set for completions sake, but still watch the non-anamorphic unmolested OT DVDs.

My stance is, I watched them on pan-and-scan VHS copies for 17 odd years; non-anamorphic transfers with stereo soundtracks are still an upgrade over that.

I'm right there with you. I have the non-anamorphic DVD's myself and those are my favorite way to experience Star Wars. I also like the Adywan edit of Star Wars as well. It adds some of the new stuff that doesn't distract from the movie. I grew up a crazy fan...still have my toys from when I was a kid (I'm 33 now)...but sports and girls took me away from it a bit. I still love the OOT and will always love it. I have to be honest though...without my son in my life...I would rarely watch these. He's actually pushed me back into a bit....which has been fun as hell.

I will probably end up buying the SE on Blu-ray for my son. He has seen "A New Hope" a few times and loves it. Yes...it's PG...but I "parentally guide" him through the movie. He already has his favorite characters...mostly the "bad guys"...

Anyway...I don't want to change the direction of the thread. I am honestly astonished and happy these will be available in separate trilogy releases...and $45 is a steal.
