The fuck?

It's already weird that this isn't being marketed as Episode VII, though I would hope it would have it above the crawl. This would at least keep it in line with the OT, which had episode numbers in the crawl but nowhere else.

I'm hoping they commission Williams to conduct a new fanfare for the Lucasfilm logo

I heard the opposite, that despite the episode number not being on posters or the official title, it would still be in the crawl.

I would be absolutely stunned if there was no episode number in the crawl. There's no way they'd lose that. What would be the point?

I think it will be too, but I've heard some people saying Disney wants to do away with the whole "Episode" thing, and - if that happens - they'll be taking the numbers off the first six movies as well. But I think it's a BS rumor...they don't want to tick off their fan base

re: Star Wars

They went overboard with the episode numbers when they re-released the OT and all the way through the PT. It should be Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens and be marketed as The Force Awakens not as Episode VII. Shit I can't get this to make any sense typing it out. The episode number should be and addendum onto the title not the other way around.

The first Star Wars movie did not have "Episode VI" added to the opening crawl until the 1980 theatrical re-release. Perhaps Abrams is trying to make some sort of weird homage to that?

Would it really tick off the majority of the fans base? Seems like many would love for them to lose the whole Episode idea, at least on the original movie since that is one of the many changes that came after the fact. Almost as bad as adding "Indiana Jones" to the "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

I have a soft spot for the episode numbers myself. Goes back to being a kid and wondering why the crawl on Star Wars said Episode IV. "Where can I see the first 3 episodes?" So I think they should be kept but the title should be marketed more than what episode it is.

The opening crawl should state "Episode X" just to fuck with people.

All of the Star Wars toys are prominently branded with the Disney logo, while the Marvel toys aren't. Hard to tell what we'll get.

The movie poster has the Disney logo on it (and Bad Robot as well). I think it's safe to say we'll see both logos in some manner before the Lucasfilm one.

While annoying, they didn't fuck with the film at all (except for the minor changes from the DVD), so if it just on the packaging, while annoying, it's not anything worth fussing about if the film is untouched.

Disney already said a while back that the Disney Magic Castle opening wouldn't be there. I don't see them doing anything else unless they add "a Disney Company" or something under the Lucasfilm Ltd card. Also I would bet on Disney keeping the Episode numbers in the opening scrolls. I imagine the Episode numbers aren't being emphasized as much because they really weren't until the Prequel Trilogy came along.

I could see them using a new Magic Castle with X-Wings zooming over it. Something like that.

I don't quite get why Disney isn't slapping their name and logo on Marvel stuff but on Star Wars stuff (at least merchandise) they are.

That logo is for the soundtrack on Walt Disney Records.

There will not be a Disney logo in front of the movie.

When I was a kid and I popped in a VHS and that Disney/Buena Vista logo came up, I always got a good feeling because I knew I was in for something treat. Later, it was the combination Fox Fanfare and Lucasfilm logo.

I have to admit that if they were to put some kind of modern Disney castle logo in front of TFA, I would be more than "fine" with it, I would probably get a little misty.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a Disney logo, as long as it wasn't the traditional Castle logo. I actually think an idea like Joshs:

would be pretty cool. Maybe even a Disney logo styled like the Lucasfilm green logo.

I have the same reaction to the older Wonderful World of Disney logo with Tink. Brings me right back to childhood.

I was at Best Buy today and was looking at the new Star Wars steelbooks. I noticed that the movies weren't labeled as "Episode #" on either the front or the spine, just by "Star Wars" and the film's title, sort of how they're promoting "The Force Awakens." The episode numbers were used on the paper slip on the back in very small print, though.

I'm sorry but that would be cheezy as fuck. How about they have Jar Jar wave from one of the castle windows.

It is Disney...

re: Star Wars

I still don't think they'll do anything in terms of an opening Disney logo or whatever. My guess is that they'll treat the Star Wars brand like they have the Marvel brand which has pretty much been treated as something they own and distribute but doesn't need the Disney name tacked on to be successful. I really can't see a reason why they'd treat Star Wars differently.

Still haven't gotten these movies on Blu, and I usually just blindly choose something on sale. But which set or individual discs does everyone recommend?

The nine disc version (recently re-released) does have a lot of nice stuff. It has old and new documentaries, deleted scenes, Star Wars in popular media, but it's also missing some older documentaries and some of the deleted scenes that were on the DVDs.

All of the movies are the special editions, if you buy the movie only sets, the only extras are the commentaries for each movie.

The price is still high on the 9 disc set, if you can find it used that's your best bet.
