I wasn't referring to their making the discs; I was referring to their printing 'limited edition' numbers on them.

If I didn't want people to disagree with my opinion, I would've left long ago (or, more precisely, wouldn't have aired it). I was just attempting to correct his notion that I was 'complaining to complain'.

It still has limited edition numbering.

However, it's half as limited as it was announced to be.

Were it announced as a six-disc set and became a three-disc set for the same price, would you say, "It still has discs."?

It's really hard to say that individual people responded to the 5000 number differently than if the number had been initially 10000 copies. However, personally speaking, I pre-ordered because I wanted it, and because it was limited, period. I personally have no idea how quickly 5000 copies of it would've sold in comparison to 10,000 copies.

However, I did wait until I knew it was region-free. That probably means that in my case, I probably benefited from the increase in production. So I pre-ordered it as soon as I knew that all the other specs about the set were right for me.

It's odd that this is an issue so long after the change was announced. If it was an actual problem for people, you'd think that those that pre-ordered in the 6 days before the number change would've complained back then, when it actually occurred.

This is all just a ploy to up your post count, isn't it? I can see no other logic here.

It was less than 48 hours before the number change.

Except they were told one thing, then told of the change, then given the changed item. If the change was an issue, then those customers could've canceled when the change occurred (and you have admitted that the change didn't matter to yourself, even though you weren't aware of it).

Correction: it's only half as limited as it was initially announced to be. It still as just as limited as Arrow last said it would be before release.

You seem to keep missing the fact that the change was made well in advance of release. That you weren't aware of it isn't Arrow's fault.

BTW, I just checked. I made the announcement October 20th and updated it with the new number October 22nd, less than 48 hours later.

However, I had found this article, which I linked to earlier in this thread, dated October 16, 2010:
http://twitchfilm.com/news/2010/10/v...tle-royale.php

Fran [over at Arrow] has also told us that Battle Royale will be available in a limited pressing of 5000 individually numbered units!
So October 16 - October 22 = 6 days.

I'm not sure who said it was "an issue" as regards this release. For all I know, no one got screwed by it. I just said I think it's lame when a company tries to sell you on a claim and then backs out after everyone responds positively, because customers could get screwed by that. Hopefully, no one did and, also hopefully, companies won't continue to do it in the future.

I'm just responding to the questions people keep asking me 'cause I'm kinda bored. Honestly, I wish I cared about post count, so I could feel like I was getting something more from this. :D

So October 16 - October 22 = 6 days.

Hehe, I wrote it and I misquoted myself here. Sorry. Embarrassing.

Sure it is. Anyone with half-a-minute's experience in marketing knows that a new product announcement is going to be picked up by many more media outlets and garner much more attention than a correction/adjustment follow-up will. I'm a living anecdotal example: I saw the first release and jumped on it, but I never saw the second release even though I was searching for region coding details on the set. This is why you need to take care to make sure you aren't making a promise in that first announcement that you can't keep.

Here's what I'm getting - an awesome movie was announced on blu ray at being limited to 5,000 copies. A few days later the company releasing it changed it to 10,000 copies in some crazy scheme to turn a bigger profit and let more people get the cool set. This was all done well ahead of the release date so that if people didn't want to pay the price for something that is now half as limited as it was initially announced as could easily cancel their pre-order. And some people are upset about it.

Watch the movie, enjoy the features, support a company that gives us these cult type films. Stop complaining over useless crap.

They announced it all over the place. Facebook, Twitter, the site I write for, and the news got picked up here and on numerous forums. I think you wanted them to track down everyone who ordered it and call them on the phone one by one to give them a chance to back out. That is utterly ridiculous. Also, since you were hunting for region coding status, you probably would have come across my announcement at Twitch which states very clearly the number of copies available as 10,000.

Change "some people are" to "some guy is" and I think you've pretty much got it nailed.

One man's useless crap is another man's justified concern. It's ok, though- I stopped complaining about it immediately after I started. :)

Nope. I just wanted them to do what they said they were going to do before I handed them my money to do it. Crazy me!

Good luck. I've had two other orders with Amazon.uk this year. One arrived in five days, the other took nine weeks.

Considering the follow-up announcement was made so quickly after the initial release and the fact that you aren't charged until the item ships, I'd say they did what they said they were going to do before you gave them a dime.

I'm guessing you haven't been following this release at all since the region was announced. There's nothing wrong with the fact that you may not be as excited as others on the forum (I've been opening this thread like it's Christmas morning every time someone posts other than when the shipping was delayed). Had you been remotely interested in the release, I have a hard time believing that you wouldn't have come across this detail in the month and a half (almost two months) after it was announced before they started shipping.

And you keep saying that you don't care about this change, but a lot of your responses in this thread have been bordering on rants, so you obviously do.
