RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

Digital Bits mentioned an Amazon pre-order link, and here's the boxset art:

No release date/announcement just yet.

This will probably be barebones, and they had to use yet another font for the title instead of using the original?

Interesting to see if the first film is the same Blu-ray released before and is now dirt-cheap.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

That package art looks pretty nice. If I didn't already own Robocop on Blu-ray (and on DVD, in the form of the anniversary edition steelbook) I might jump on this. But due to the quality of the latter two films, I can easily ignore this set ...

... unless:

a) The price drops to $20 or less or
b) The first film has a significantly improved transfer over the standalone disc (and/or a director's cut?).

Please, no digital or DVD copies either.

Original needs a good remaster and extras. Preferably with both rated and unrated cuts. I was never a fan of the others, but if the price drops to something decent, I wouldn't mind picking this up.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

why would you wanted the neutered R-rated cut of the first film - just asking?

II would sound incredible in 5.1 DTS HD MA sound

^ Yeah, not sure. I won't be picking this up if not the Unrated version.

Cuz it's a damn fine Theatrical Cut. I like the Unrated fine...but....R one is still damn good. I grew up w/ what. In fact..my earliest memory is watching this in 1989 when I was 3. For some reason my female cousins were interested in this..and well...I had grown up on action films of that era...but..this one...well...let's say nothing has or ever will shock me visually on a screen after you watch that hand blow up as a 3 yr. old.

If all the RoboCop extras are included, I'll bite. I think RoboCop 2 is hilarious. As for RoboCop 3, I could use a good coaster.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

I always considered Robocop 3 to have an incredible script, but fell flat on it's ass production-wise.

I wouldn't mind having the first sequel on Blu-ray, though.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

Hopefully the first film has a better transfer and the unrated cut. As for the second film, I've always found it to be a guilty pleasure and look forward to seeing it again. I've never been a fan of the third film though.

$25 tops for this set. The Lecter Trilogy dropped like a rock almost right away, and this is MGM afterall.

Think I still need to see part 3. Also one who will jump at a decent price.

Only in for this if they give the first a better encode and include all the extras from the 2-disc set.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

I would have to see if it includes any of the existing special features before I would consider buying it. But honestly, at this point I have way too many copies of the movie as it is (Criterion, Steelbook, Bluray) and will pass if it's just a barebones release. And this is coming from someone who named his son after Robocop.

Please tell me your son isn't named "Robobcop".

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

My son is named Alex (well, Alexander). My wife picked one name, and I got to pick the other. I couldn't think of anything else, so I went with it. But it's okay, cause it's one of my favorite films. I know some people who have named their kids after Star Wars characters. But I wanted my son to have a chance at not being made fun of for having a silly name.

I'll buy that for a dollar, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Seriously though, I'll buy 1 if they actually put some effort into the release, and part 2 is a huge guilty pleasure of mine. Part 3 doesn't exist in my mind.

Re: RoboCop Trilogy Blu-ray coming soon

http://www.walmart.com/ip/15029655?s...i_sku=15029655

The summary on Wal-Mart.com says:
Including the unrated, extended version of the first film and exclusive bonus features that take you behind the scenes, the "Robocop Trilogy" delivers three times the excitement.
Oh, I hate RoboCop 3 so much, but I guess if it has the Unrated version I might have to bite...
