Not that it really matters, but that's in Canada. I believe it was mentioned here somewhere, but it might have been just a rumor.
Hopefully they'll release it in the US at the same time, but if not, whatever. I'm glad to see it coming out.

It's being released in Canada by Paramount, not Alliance, so I'm sure we'll get a concurrent U.S. release. Probably, as the Blu-ray.com article speculates, part of the Sapphire Series.
I posted the above link in the Release Announcement thread the other day.
I believe it was mentioned here somewhere

Didnt care much for this movie till i saw it on tbs a few years back. even then i never finished the film but from what i saw, it seems like an outstanding movie. will probly get this at some point..

Wonder if the Blu will get those elusive deleted scenes that are mentioned several times in the commentary, but nowhere to be found on the dvd (there's an alternate ending and alternate open) So drastic the changes that apparently the stars weren't aware of the ending change until they watched the final cut for the first time

A couple months have passed since Paramount's last Sapphire Series Blu-ray Disc entry, Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, arrived in stores. As it turns out, Paramount chose to put the high-end collection of Blu-ray releases on hiatus over the summer. It will return on September 21 with Sam Mendes' directorial debut American Beauty starring Annette Bening, Thora Birch, Kevin Spacey, Wes Bentley, Chris Cooper and Mena Suvari.
I do not have all the details on American Beauty: Sapphire Series to share but I can confirm the disc (or discs) will include a commentary with Director Sam Mendes and Screenwriter Alan Ball; American Beauty Look Closer…; Storyboard Presentation with Sam Mendes and Director of Photography Conrad L. Hall; and a pair of theatrical trailers in high definition.
Full disc specs and Amazon.com pre-order information for American Beauty: Sapphire Series will be passed along as soon as I receive them.

Can't wait to buy this one. Will be dumping my DVD right now.
Irked it was delayed from a late release last year and replaced with re-releases of Godfather I/II instead.
Titanic should still be coming out (in 3D) either later this year or early next.

You probably won't have a choice on passing if you want to watch Titanic on Blu-ray. Wouldn't shock me to see them make it a 2D/3D Only release (either like how Disney currently does it with two discs, or how other studios do with 2D and 3D being on the same disc).
I'll be passing regardless, since I can't stand the movie.
