It's a 3 disc set. The DVD is seperate to the DC. Stupid and a waste as some companies can do it.

Why is the DVD included a waste? Just because you don't want to use it doesn't mean a lot of other people would never use it. Most folks have only one blu-ray player but have DVD players elsewhere so it offers them the ability to play the movie in any player they have. It's a great idea...more studios should do it!

I think he was refering to the fact that the Digital Copy and DVD copy were two separate discs. A few studios have recently switched to where they were both on one DVD disc.

It is a waste of space if they put in 2 extra discs instead of a DVD/DC combo.

As Bob said, I think he was referring to having the DC on a separate disc than the DVD copy, instead of them both sharing the same disc. Frankly, I agree with him.

There are arguments to be made as to whether Digital Copies are a waste, but I strongly disagree that they should be forced onto the DVD. All of the DCs I've seen are more than a gigabyte in size. I would rather that space be used for better video and audio quality on the DVD.

I was referring to the fact they are not on the same disc.
I love these "triple plays". I just bought the Losers and have given my mum the DVD as they have no BD player yet. I still haven't got my Holmes DVD from them!
I see Mr Saltys point about space on the DVD given over to better AV and AQ but if that DVD hasn't got all the extras then there should be enough for both.
It would save on production costs at least.

No DVD and DC on same disc is a waste. Out of curiosity i have watched some scenes of these DVD versions and Outside the fact that these are in SD, didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Anyone see alternate cover art? I went to Target, Walmart and Best Buy and they all seemed the same.

Didn't see any alternate cover, but UK has a lovely box set and other countries have some nice packaging and various cover art as well. Click here to check it out.

Warner is the only studio that will create a specific DVD to put in the Blu-ray edition, a DVD that provides your standard-definition copy plus your digital copies (one for WMV, another for MPEG-4). However, for those who actually watch the DVD, you're going to notice more-than-usual compression. The digital copies portion of Clash of the Titans, a 107 minute film, takes up 3.5GB. You're now only left with 4GB for the film itself. The shorter the film, the better as one may not notice the compression; but the longer the film (say The Informant!), you're going to notice the compression. I did compare scenes on The Final Destination and Ninja Assasin BDs compared with the DVDs that came them and it was night-and-day. If you wanted someone to switch over to Blu, compare both of these titles on a 50" HDTV.

What I've noticed with Kick-Ass, is that the DVD included is bare-bones... almost as if it was created for rental purposes or for the Blu-ray itself. Nothing from your retail DVD (audio commentary, the 20-minute featurette or the promotional material) are found on the DVD included, but they're all on the BD.

Studios like Disney and Fox/MGM include the standard retail DVDs (like James and the Giant Peach which includes the original Special Edition DVD release).

Personally, I'd rather take a DVD over a Digital Copy.

I'd rather have the standard retail DVD and give up the digital copy.

I watched it tonight and definitely enjoyed it. Took a little time to get going, mostly since he was so awkward. I'll spend some more time with it this weekend to watch the bonus features.

It should work now. Are you getting the German steelbook too?

I purchased Kick-Ass today at Best Buy. The audio is fantastic but the video sports a really schizophrenic transfer. It keeps flip-flopping from grainy and detailed to DNR'ed and waxy (with some minor ringing to boot) with no rhyme or reason. It still looks good overall but the inconsistensy of the transfer gets really annoying.

That's exactly how the film looked in theaters. It's a perfectly accurate transfer.

Thanks. I never saw it in theaters so that really took me by surprise. Still weird, though. If it happened for specific scenes only I'd maybe understand. But the transfer is all over the place.

I don't think that "DNR'ed" is the right term in this case. The movie has quite a bit of the digital airbrushing effect on actors' faces, similar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Sweeney Todd. As much of an annoyance as this is, it was deliberate.

Did anyone have issues with the bonus features? When I go into "The Making of Kick-Ass" the screen freezes up but the counter continues to run. Happens on both of my Sony BD players.

Typical Lionsgate menus... I don't remember which title it was, might have been The Spirit, but I remember it took forever to load as well.

I've never encountered loading issues on any Lionsgate film.

It was. I read others are experiencing load times of 5 minutes for this movie on Sony BD players. My LG took two-three minutes.
