Knowing Lionsgate, we'll get a 7.1 DTS-HD soundtrack, which will rule on this. My favorite movie of 2010 (so far). Probably just going to pre-order this one.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has set an August 3 release date for the Blu-ray edition of Kick-Ass, the action movie about do-it-yourself superheroes based on the comic written by Mark Millar and John S. Romita Jr. This Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy pack will exclusively feature a making-of documentary, and a feature-length Ass-Kicking BonusView mode.
In addition, the Metamenu Remote powered by BD Touch, another Blu-ray exclusive, will allow for iPhone OS and Android users to personalize their experience with this state-of-the-art free app. Once connected through BD-Live, viewers can select menus using intuitive gestures, find scenes by dialogue, discover details about the actors, and more. With headphones, they can select to listen in alternate language tracks, or enjoy other synchronized content including portions of the Ass-Kicking Bonus View (which users can take "to go" on their mobile device).
Special features include:
Ass-Kicking BonusView Mode: synchronous with the feature film, this multi-media presentation incorporates video and audio commentary, behind-the-scenes clips and illustrative graphics with co-writer/producer/director Matthew Vaughn, plus cast and crew providing an all-access perspective on Kick-Ass (BD-exclusive)
Audio commentary with writer-director Matthew Vaughn
Documentary: A New Kind of Superhero: The Making of Kick-Ass (BD-exclusive)
Featurette: It's On! The Comic Book Origin of Kick-Ass
Gallery: The Art of Kick-Ass
Marketing archive
BD Touch and Metamenu Remote
Lionsgate Live enabled, featuring extra content for Internet-connected players
Enhanced for D-Box Motion Control Systems

I'll definitely be picking this up. I missed this in theaters so it'll be a blind buy for me, but I'm certain I'll like it.

I liked this one enough to pick it up. I feel like it'll grow on me a little more after a few more watches.

^ Not to mention does anyone really think the disc (Avatar) wouldn't have sold so well regardless of the included DVD?? The highest grossing movie ever wasn't going to sell a ton of media?
Do people suspect that the BD sold so well because people were planning on upgrading to BD down the road and picked up the BD + DVD to future proof??

Disney has been including DVDs randomly for the past year. Universal, Fox and Sony only do so with kid movies (and some retailer exclusives from Target). Warner only since the start of 2010. Avatar the first time Fox has included a DVD in a non-kids film. And while we all know Avatar's BD sales would be high, that likely pushed other studios to start adding in DVD copies to just about all new Day and Dates as retailers would be more likely to order more copies of the more expensive BD release to stock vs. DVD. This is the first time EVER Lionsgate has included a DVD copy with any Blu-ray. Avatar will likely push other studios to do the same (and if the price is right, I don't care. Just don't gouge us).
(I am obviously excluding some of the MGM catalog titles as they typically toss in a DVD because they refuse to re-encode a 3 year old Blu-ray with a menu to add in special features on the BD disc).

Since 2009, most, if not all, Walt Disney Pictures releases have included (minimum) at least a DVD. Unless it's a new release, then there's the possibility of two separate Blu-ray releases where one is just a Blu-ray disc and the other being a triple BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo (i.e. Alice in Wonderland, Princess and the Frog).

All Blu-ray only (some had a DC). FYI Beverly Hills was right before they started doing DVDs with kid movies.
Look at the pathetic 40 or so (how many double-dips or boxsets? Gees) releases Disney had in 2009:

You might mean 2010, the year where are in, where is exactly the same - kids movies/animated films:

Old Dogs? Kids movie with a DVD
Princess and the Frog? Kids movie with a DVD
Alice in Wonderland? Kids movie with a DVD
Surrogates? Not a kids movie and NO DVD
When in Rome? Not a kids movie and NO DVD
And that's 2010 for Disney. It's June, and wow...they release next to nothing on the format.

For Animated (or kids) films, yes (like I already mentioned). Not live action (non-kid) films in 2009:

Gizmo, I said Walt Disney Pictures.
I wasn't aware that Hollywood, Touchstone and Miramax were all releasing films under the Walt Disney Pictures banner now. Wow, Buena Vista must be going under some tough times.
