Generally speaking, there is no need to start a new thread when one already exists. This announcement can easily be a continuation to the previous discussion. And when the Blu-ray does get released, the discussion can continue in the pre-existing thread. We certainly don't need a thread every time there is news regarding a movie.

I already bought Hearts of Darkness on DVD so I'm in for the 2-disk Blu.

Currently the only version I own is the original (non-redux) on DVD, it'll be nice to get a few more extras this time around.

Re: UPDATE: Apocalypse Now 2-Disc & 3-Disc (w/ Hearts of Darkness) Announced 10/19/20

When the two-disc DVD edition was released, Circuit City had an exclusive bonus 3rd disc, which contained:
  • The Added Scenes and Expanded Themes of Apocalypse Now Redux
  • Destruction of the Kurtz Compound with Optional Commentary
  • 1979 Trailer
  • 2001 Trailer

Will these features find their way on this ultimate Blu-ray release?

oh man...this movie changed me into further ingraining in me the idea of being a filmmaker back in High School. I own the Redux and Dossier (which has both cuts..but split by the 2 discs) I'm...so fucking happy about. Now let's get details on the aspect ratio...

I'm almost positive this will be cropped to 2:1, unless someone smacked Coppola in the head and he came to his senses. Vittorio Storaro wants all of stuff in 2:1 now, and Coppola seems to be following his wishes.

If the only thing on the third disc is "Hearts of Darkness," then I'll probably just get the two-disc set.

And I'll be shocked if this is in its true 2.35:1 aspect ratio and not Storaro's Idiovisium.

The only thing that held me back from ever getting or watching Hearts of Darkness is cuz I would only buy it if it came w/ the film. Cuz stand alone...I wasn't a fan of it's pricing. Now..it can be mine!

Yea, I'd be really surprised if they went back to the OAR. Coppola has already deferred to Storaro on this, and I don't see him reversing his stance, at least while Storaro is still alive.

It's really a shame that this happened at all. I can maybe see his point on this years ago, but with the advent and proliferation of 16x9 displays, it only serves to boggle the mind, and infuriate our sensibilities.

I just wish they clarified better whether The Conversation was coming to Blu-Ray. I'm guessing not. If so, it should be.

I'm 100% certain it is. I'm just trying to remember what else Coppola has that was originally released by Paramount that could be included in this deal besides The Conversation and Tucker.

Of course, they could be including One From The Heart in the deal as well.

But everything else has either been released (Godfather, etc) or should be tied up with other studios (Dracula, Cotton Club)

Does Warner still control The Outsiders? I hope we can get both versions of that too. I wasn't really happy with the Complete Novel edition, mostly due to the music changes.

I can't tell from the press release if 'Hearts of Darkness' will be the same dvd released before, or if it will also be a blu-ray disc like 'Apocalypse Now' and Redux.' Not sure if a booklet and photos is enough to buy the 3-disc version if the HoD is just a repackaged dvd like the one I already own.

IGN says both versions will be presented in 2.35:1. Granted, the source is IGN so who knows, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Where did you read that? I know LGF is re-issuing it on DVD, I have it requested in the DVDTalk database. Any links to a Blu-Ray?

I like the artwork on the 3-disc set. Don't think I've ever seen that before. (Note the Paramount logo on the spine?) I'm assuming that this contains most, if not all, of the supplemental material from the Complete Dossier...

Might have to go ahead and pony up for the "Full Disclosure" edition. The only previous version I have is the first Paramount release and I never got around to picking up Hearts of Darkness, though I came close during the last DD sale.

I like the 2-disc art better, but I'm definitely getting the 3-disc.

Fingers crossed on the aspect ratio...
