Beautiful, although the blue/red clash a little bit.

I'm very excited, and from what I read, this carries over most/all of the bonus features from the DVD. :)

Looking forward to getting rid of my Canadian BD  Even though it was open matte, I just couldn't get used to watching it like that.

Am I the only one who hates these digibook packages? I'd rather have the slim BD case.

Give it roughly 3-4 months and it'll probably be re-released in a standard package, like many of WB's other digibook releases. I'd rather have that art in a standard case with a thick booklet jammed inside too, but WB likes 'em (and Sony) and the artwork / inner content looks sharp.

I will swear by digibooks until the day I die. Look at this:

http://i44.tinypic.com/wwmcfs.jpg

Tell me that doesn't look great. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I wish the digibook had been set as the standard release format from the get-go, and all Blu-Rays came this way now. At least it'd force distributors to pony up some kind of written supplements.

Suffice it to say that I am very glad WB is continuing the trend with a relatively high-profile title like Se7en.

Nah, I don't care much for them either.

I'll pick this one up down the road as it's my second favorite Fincher flick (behind Zodiac), but the need to upgrade doesn't feel urgent.

Of course, this release is still 4 months away and by then it may feel more immediate :)

I'll have to get this day 1. And as soon as it comes out in regular packaging, I'll be dumping the digibook. I can' stand these things. But I do want this movie, big time.

According to The Digital Bits it's 7.1 lossless

Can't wait.

I will be getting this day one, so glad it's a digibook too. I just wish they had used the normal "notebook" cover, since it would actually go along with the whole digibook thing.

By the way, only 5 of the current 25 digibooks have been re-released in regular cases:

Bonnie and Clyde
Digibook 03/25/08
Regular 02/02/10

The Matrix
Digibook 03/31/09
Regular 01/12/10

Amadeus
Digibook 02/10/09
Regular 09/15/09

Batman
Digibook 05/19/09
Regular 04/20/10

Clash of the Titans
Digibook 03/02/10
Regular 05/25/10

6 if you count Natural Born Killers, but I don't since it's a different version of the film. And 2 regular releases have been re-released as digibooks.

Your just missing Bonnie and Clyde HD DVD & Indiana Jones 4 (event though its DVD-style size). Interesting you put some HBO shows in the mix.

I have KotCS, it's just to the left of Band of Brothers. Absolutely no reason to own an HD-DVD though :) But yeah the miniseries have roughly the same size/build as a digibook so they fit in nicely.

I'm another big fan of the digibook. Surprised people hate them, I think they are fantastic packaging. Freaky that I just shipped off a huge box of DVDs for credit and Seven was one of them. I didn't know about this announcement, I just figured it would get a Blu-release eventually.

Huh, I thought it was a larger margin than that. Guess I'm also thinking about the non-gift set releases of The Notebook and Casablanca. Still, I'd be surprised if Se7en didn't flip-flop to standard packaging after a while.
