EDIT: Just saw Namja's post. So, let me add, that I actually like the digibook format, and I think this Seven cover is a very sharp looking cover. While it does suffer from some inferiorities inherent in the case format, I think the overall aesthetic of it makes it worthwhile. And while it is a slightly different size from the standard case size, I look forward to adding this title to my collection.

I...I don't....Yeah, I don't want to know why a bear is on a coaster when you're having sex.

LMAO at the turn of events in this thread.

'Running Faucets'

Remove disc from case. Leave case on shelf. Idiotic bear crisis avoided.

We could go back and forth on this forever.
Bottom line is if you damage a digibook, you have no way of fixing it, without buying a new one. Which was one of the original points made that you seem to disagree with.

What if you have more than 1 DVD player and have to move that disc around the house? What if you have kids who want to watch the movie, or a friend that wants to borrow it? There are many way a case could be damaged. Now if you are one of those people who get completely anal over a $20 movie and protects it with his life, than that is a different issue. In the real world, things happen that we can't always control.

How hard is it to protect your cases? Geez some of you people act as if its like the most difficult thing in the world. I don't obsess over keeping everything perfect either and have a life outside Blu-rays/movies, but normally the case is sitting on the shelf or if I'm watching it I set it on top of the PS3 so I don't spill anything on it or whatever. Pretty complicated.

Mike86 - Did you read the post above yours? It list situations where a DVD case could be damaged. Let me know if you need additional help.

I did. But still anyone with common sense isn't going to have those kinds of problems over and over again. At least I would hope not. Seriously I can see like a complete accidental thing like you drop it in a puddle or your kid gets a hold of it and tears it up or something, but how often does something like that really happen? A normal person shouldn't run into these kinds of problems that are destroying your digibooks on a normal basis. That's all I'm saying. My friends who I loan things out to also have always returned discs and cases in fine condition. Most of them aren't as into collecting as I am. Same goes for family members. Really its not that hard.

I don't think anyone claimed it was a routine issue, just that it could happen. Personally i don't care too much about the covers and use my case as a drink coaster while i am watching the movie.

Set the case on top of the Blu-ray player. That's probably the safest place for it when it's not on the shelf.

What if you have kids who want to watch the movie, or a friend that wants to borrow it?
Put the disc in a temporary case or sleeve and then give that to them if you're concerned about maintaining the digibook.

It seems the complaint boils down to the fact that if you care about maintaining your cases, maintaining a digibook requires "more" effort. I don't think that complaint holds much water given how easy it is to control the conditions that have the greatest potential to cause damage to a case of any kind. The effort is practically negligible. The extent to which you care about maintaining a case is the extent to which you will put forth that effort.

Anyone who can't get a dvd case from one room of the house to the next without damaging it has problems much bigger than a damaged dvd case - probably something like cerebral palsy or parkinson's...

What if you have kids who want to watch the movie
It's a good opportunity in teaching them responsibility, where if they even slightly damage something, they have to do chores to replace it - if they're too young to do chores, they probably shouldn't be handling discs.
or a friend that wants to borrow it?
What I do is put the disc in an empty, clear jewel-case and turn the actual case on the shelf on it's side to denote that it's being borrowed.

No, not really.

Sure, but if you're logical and even just a little careful, you can avoid most, if not all, of these "real world" things.

It sounds like you are one of those people who are probably a bit too anal about their movies. But hey, it they are that important to you, more power to you. I did like the part about loaning out movies in a temp case - that is classic! The part about making my kid work off a little damage to a freaking DVD case was also amusing. Thanks.

Mod Note: I've been receiving reports of the arguing in this thread about digibook packaging. I don't see what this has to do with Seven, so let's lay it to rest.

Yeah. What he said.

If you guys really wanna discuss cases, please do that in the digibook thread. There's gotta be one somewhere (I'm on my phone typing this and don't wanna do a search). Further digibook discussion in this thread will result in a *smack*.

I didn't read the other pages or posts in this thread, I was just curious, does this release come in a digibook?

Re: Se7en (Seven) Digibook -- 9/14/10

Does anyone know if there is a difference in OAR or transfer on the Alliance digibook release versus the WB/New Line digibook release?

I ordered this via Amazon Marketplace thinking I was getting the US version. The Alliance version showed up instead. Obviously the packaging is slightly different w/ the bi-lingual cover and spine, but I want to make sure the transfer, sound, etc is the same before I decide what I need to do here.

Thanks!
