...if you read the DVDbeaver review..it says it right there. So.....yes..yes, it does have it.

Minor gripe about the Steelbook: Uhm...is it me or does it look a bit weird? The cover of it? as if the actress and the background are given a different physical definition? Something about it....bothers me. Anyone else see it?

It looks like they kept the brightness and contrast of Leigh but changed the tile to make it more noticeable. It also looks like they are using a different background altogether.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Yeah....that's what it is. The pictures we've seen of it didn't look like this...not a deal breaker..just annoying cover art design to me. Again..it's what's on the BD not the package that matters.

The packaging looks a little better in real life.

something that an actual photo of the product doesn't show well? I'm getting it regardless...

Actually, I checked it again and it's more obvious that Leigh is much more pronounced in the foreground.

I don't see why it would be a big deal. I think it looks better.

Just to be clear, the UK steelbook has everything the US edition will have?

Solid Snake 08-17-10 11:47 PM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

No. The US one won't have the booklet. as FAR AS I KNOW....

If The Beatles had stayed together after making Abbey Road instead of breaking up, what do you think their next album would have sounded like?

It looks like they cut her face out of a magazine and tapes it to the cover. It just does not blend well with the background.

Like the UK Steelbook of Green Zone, Janet and the background are printed in a special way, so that when the book catches the light one way she's silver, and the other way a bit pink. It makes her stand out from the background, and is pretty effective.

In real life, this is a pretty nice cover.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Ok..it's just an effect that doesn't project well from a photo in that case. I guess that's cool.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Does anyone know why the Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode, "Lamb to the Slaughter" is included here? I watching this thinking it may have some relationship to Psycho, but can find none. Except the obvious of course, but that could be said for any episode of the series.

Did they just throw a random episode on here or is there some reason for this?

zombeaner 08-21-10 05:07 PM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

It is Hitch's favorite episode, and one of the relatively few he directed

Just ordered the UK Steelbook....I'm getting it somewhere between Sept. 3-9...yay me.

zombeaner 08-23-10 07:55 PM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

I'm tempted to do it today, but I'm in a position such that I will wait for my CC to cycle before I order it.

Solid Snake 08-23-10 08:04 PM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

CC?

what does that stand for? Obviously not Criterion Collection...well for this..lol.

Credit Card.

Solid Snake 08-23-10 11:15 PM

and what does he mean by Cycle?

mzupeman2 08-24-10 07:48 AM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

He probably means the next time he sends in a payment, so there will be a little more money on it.

Statement closes on Amex at the beginning of the month. It doesn't really change what I owe, it just makes me feel better.

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

Ooooh...ok. yeah, well...if I don't have the cash for it, I don't get it. Damn my obsession w/ films. It dominates my bank account.

Its an AMEX, I pay the balance every month, it holds no balance. Jeez guys. Its a psychological thing for me.

I say buy it. It's probably the best Blu-ray disc of the year.

Indeed. If starving college film student can buy all the shit he does...and if I didn't all the nonsense crap I buy I wouldn't be starving...you can too!

Are you referring to me?

....actually I'm talking about myself. I'm the film school student. And the "you can too!" comment is to everyone....

You are correct, strange internet person. The case and the cover on it is a lot better looking when you literally have it.

Also..the BD is......awesomeness.

I can easily wait until next month for this, what I CAN'T wait for is the Psycho Legacy documentary. I love comprehensive documentaries, especially ones that cover films that haven't really been covered before. I can't wait to hear about Psycho's 2, 3 and 4!

LOL! If you think I'm strange, head on over to the forums at blu-ray.com and read the steelbook area. Its my watermark for "anal" and given online forums, that's really saying something!

Definitely much more attractive in person than in the stock photograph.

The artwork isn't hideous but it's about the content not the packaging for me ... so they can't keep their over-priced 'steelcase' editions. IF I were into packaging, the day that I'm looking for covers with circles with the number 15 in it is not upon us.

In ways, I agree. To be fair, I really doubt I would've purchased the exclusive if it hadn't only been £.30 more than the regular packaging, which is currently £11.87 (~$20 shipped) at Amazon UK right now.

zombeaner 09-27-10 02:29 PM

Re: Psycho 50th Anniversary BD

...and if you're interested in content, the Steelbook is the only version with the 20 page booklet, that is why I got it.

I finally ordered the Steelbook earlier this week. Can't wait to get it, hopefully this week.
