Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
I had my one of my chairs at home converted to Dbox after Dbox was installed into our theatre last year.
After watching Fast and Furious and Terminator Salvation at work in Dbox, and realizing i had a decent number of films that allready had Dbox tracks on them at home allready, I was sold on it.
Only thing that sucks is not every movie released in Dbox in the theatre gets a dbox track for the BD release.
I believe ive mentioned on other threads for bd titles that have dbox before that i have Dbox as well.

Yeah Ive had one for a while now. It was worth every penny. They have two options one where you buy one of their chairs from them, or you can get a motion platform to convert your chair you allready own. (the cheaper option is having your own chair converted)

Worste DVD case ever. You have to push it down and pull up at the same time. Somebodys uncle owns a DVD case company

I really hope people write and complain to Universal. BTTF might be the best chance to get them to stop with these types of digis. I'll happily await my set's arrival from across the pond knowing that I won't be OCD-ing about how horrible the new digipak designs are.

I've hated this type of packaging since House hit BD. Glad to see that others now agree so hopefully Universal will stop using it.

I just read that the discs are in 3 double layered plastic cases. Are these normal width blu-ray cases with a disc on each side or with a disc on a flip tray, or are the case thicker like the Snow White and Pinocchio blu-rays ?

Scan back through the last 2 or 3 pages for lots of discussion and photographs of this new, apparently horrible plastic tray design. It's very hard to explain, you kind of need to see it. Even seeing it, I'm not sure I grasp the full scope of how awful it is, although I get a strong impression.

I was going to defend this set's packaging (since I am able to get the discs in and out fairly easily) until I realized my BTTF III hub is BROKEN! The bottom retainer clip is cracked and will eventually fall off.
I guess I'll keep the set since the disc is still firmly held in place and other sets will probably be broken as well. But this really is shitty packaging.
And looking at the diagram explaining how to get the disc out makes me think the set was designed by Wile E. Coyote.

can anyone please comment on the packaging? I want this set, but I want to know about the US packaging before I drop the money on this set. Thanks.

What's the deal with Thomas F. Wilson. With Crispin Glover it makes sense that they don't go to him or he's not willing to do interviews for the special features and such, but is Biff just that bitter about possibly being type-casted due to the movie? He of course has the Questions song, so is he just completely Back to the Future'd out? I'd be curious to know.
Same with Elizabeth Shue. Does she just feel like she doesn't really belong with the series?
Just odd that pretty much all the major players participate in the special features (and the recent junkets) except for these two (again not so much a surprise with Crispin).

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Tom Wilson was at our station a while back and one of my co-workers brought in a copy of Back to the future on DVD for him to sign. He refused saying he didn't autograph anything like that. I'm not sure if he just didn't like signing merchandise or if he didn't want to have anything to do with BTTF. I kind of got a feeling it was a mix of both. But he was a really nice guy. He let us take pictures with him, and he did roll with the BTTF references during the interview (though in hindsight I believe he wasn't happy about it as he wanted to focus on his stand-up show he was promoting).
As for the others. As you said, Crispin Glover is pretty obvious, but I'm not sure about Elisabeth Shue. I think she did get the short-end of the deal, especially since Mary Steenburgen is always in it. Granted, her part was probably bigger than Elisabeth Shue's since she didn't really do much and she was taking the place of Claudia Wells from the first movie.

Lots of talk about the bad packaging but how does the picture look? There had been a lot of talk based on screen caps.

The packaging is weird, but it's not difficult to get the discs out once you figure out how to do so. Other than how the discs are held in place, I think the packaging is very nice.

TomOpus, I'm still waiting to hear if the sound issues from the DVD on Part II have been fixed, but people are more focused on how horrible the cases are to comment.
I've read half a dozen or more extensive reviews and nobody specifically comments on whether the audio issues were fixed or not.
For how much of a fuss people made about it when the DVDs came out, and how horrible the garbled music cues sound, I would think it would be somewhere near the top of the list to address with the new Blu-Ray reviews.

Well, from the special features it seems like he was a super nice guy who was super far from the bully persona he took on and then became famous for. So, I can understand him being a bit bothered by everyone thinking he's a mean guy. But still, this movie made you famous, dude. And you did three of them...and a ride!
