Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

I ordered this along with Volume 2 and the Tremors Attack Pack on May 10th. I got the other two pretty quickly, but Volume 1 still hasn't shown up. The seller on eBay is jerking me around, so I ordered another copy from another seller while that case is being settled.

Trying Amazon.it for the first time (have heard some bad things about the Italian postal service though)

A week ago I'd just sold off some high ticket OoP stuff and was riding high, having fully subsidized all my previous disc purchases and still left with a big surplus in my software fund. This order puts me back in the hole now.

$15.29 & $16.19 respectively @ B&N. Lifeforce replaces my existing DVD which is in letterbox format with just a thin band of movie in the middle of my WS HDTV...

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

Ended up canceling the BFI Robbe-Grillet set. The current price is great and I was very interested in hearing the Tim Lucas commentaries, but it would be too much of a PITA trying to get rid of the Kino discs now.
Also considering cancelling the Phibes set.

In the meantime...was able to catch an Amazon.de order before it shipped and added this . Good thing too as one of the non pre-order titles dropped in price, and I wouldn't have gotten the lower price if I hadn't cancelled and made a new order.

and ordered a copy of this off of ebay

I had never even heard of that movie, but the concept sounds awesome.

I'd never heard of it, let alone seen it, before getting that first Universal sci-fi set. It ended up being the movie I enjoyed the most out of all of them.
I love the way it synthesize the vibe of the typical 50's giant atomic bug movies with a more adult apocalyptic threat of something like Day The Earth Caught Fire.
It's all done on a Universal "B movie" budget, but the concept is idiosyncratic enough to make it involving...at least to me (YMMV, of course).

And while it was pricey, I'm just realizing right now, it was only a couple dollars more than buying a Twilight Time Bd with shipping (!?!). And like the TT's, this one is supposed to be limited too so may as well get it before the price gets too foolish.

The Italian Job (2003 Remake)
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
Robocop (2014 Remake)

I only got The Italian Job since WalMart had it in a two pack with Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

I'm holding out hope for a steelbook and it's far enough out that I can cancel as soon as they announce one.
Also, examining the pricing history of a few things there it seems the initial solicitation has the highest price, a month later is usually the lowest and then it bounces back up a little right around actual release time. So I expect sometime by late July the price on this should drop down to £14 or under.

On some items, yes. On others no. I had initially pre-ordered the Herzog BFI set at an ultra low price then jumped the gun and canceled it when Shout announced their set and found out that both sets would not be identical. When I went back to pre-order the BFI set it was a few pounds more than when I initially pre-ordered it. In dollars that translated to about 20-25 more than if I had just left it alone. Lesson learned.

I don't collect steel books anymore, so that's not an issue for me.
