Really? I don't think you want to go much past Part III at all, regardless of format.

They will be sold split up as well but since they remastered the first one and it has a new commentary, I'll just pick up the set the next time there's a sale.

Part 3 is my favourite but I may get the 3 pack since I didn't get the first one.

I have the Puppet Master DVD Boxset, but I might wait on reviews before buying the first three on BD.

I don't think the first one will be different, that shows the same cover and catalog number for the current BD.

I'm a huge fan of the series, but I can't bring myself to buy any of the Blu-rays. Just not interested. I'm fine with how the DVDs look.

One thing to keep in mind is, with the first on at least, it was in 16:9, whereas every release before was 4:3. So even if you don't care about HD, you at least get more viewing area.

I actually think you are getting less.

Pretty much all the Full Moon movies were shot with home video in mind. Puppet Master got a small theatrical release (as did Meridian and Crash and Burn and I think weirdly Bad Channels) but I believe they were all just 1:33 matted to 1:85 (or maybe even 1:66) so a 4:3 image actually probably showed you MORE picture, although probably nothing of merit.

I've seen comparison shots, you do see more on the 16:9

But were they shot anamorphic or spherical? If the latter, although 1.85:1 might be the intended ratio, you would still need to crop the top and bottom to achieve it. If the former, we'd get a 2.40:1 aspect ratio once the image is stretched back to it's proper aspect ratio.

Which is why I find the following curious:

Maybe it'll be easier to just wait for the boxset. It's going to come eventually.

Re: Puppet Master and Puppet Master: Axis of Evil Coming to BLu-Ray

Just got this from amazon...

Hello,

Due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item(s) from your order:

Greg Webb, et al "Puppet Master 2 [Blu-ray]"

We've canceled the item(s) and apologize for the inconvenience. If you see a charge for the canceled item, we will refund you within 1-2 business days.
They left part 3 open though, but I cancelled it as two was the one I really wanted. I guess Full Moon wants us to go through their site?

It'll probably be the cheapest option if you wait for their 50% off sale.

OMG! Thats Sad- The reason why I bought the Volume 1 set is to see in High Definition the exposed chest of Charlie Spradling

Is the audio sync problem fixed for the first film?

My boxed set pre-order got canceled from Amazon as well. I wonder if Paramount finally decided to say something about things and maybe Band does not actually own the rights to the movies?

That's odd. Any benefit to keeping them exclusive to Full Moon Direct? Supposedly alot of rights reverted back to Charlie in the last couple years.
Just saw on a Puppet Master Forum:
Also, if you're wondering what's the deal with Amazon pre-orders, Charles had this to say:
"The retail release will be later this year. They will all be available next week on fullmoondirect.com Sept 18th!"

They don't have to pay Amazon 15%. If you have the means to sell it through your own store, there's no reason not to. It also has the added benefit of turning some people that buy their stuff through Amazon into starting to go through their own store.

They do run a curious ship. I worry a bit about them though as they stuff they are making not isn't going to be as good in 20-30 years as the stuff they made 20-30 years ago is now.

You can preorder now for $40 and get the blu-ray, dvd, and theatrical sized poster. . In other words, the dvd ends up costing $0, if you bought them separately.

Definitely post up when you get it, I'm curious about the quality.

88 Films put out the first 3 Puppet Master films on Blu-Ray as well as being set to release other films from the Full Moon library.

The only difference for 2 and 3 I know of are that the UK releases have lossless audio and the US releases don't

Re: Puppet Master and Puppet Master: Axis of Evil Coming to BLu-Ray

I've only seen bits and pieces of the original puppet master and I almost bought the blu ray box set but then I remembered about the 88 films releases from the UK. Also, the 3 subspecies films will be released next week with better specs.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=208768

My question is, as blind buys, are the puppet master and subspecies movies worth it? If im going to get them, id rather spend the extra cash and get the better releases.
