Just contact WB. They will send you a new code. It happened with me.

I often buy used and reduced priced (walmart $5 bin, etc.) DVD's. So with that, the digital copies are useless cause the code has already been used, or is expired. And even when I buy a movie as a new release and it has a digital copy, its a bitch getting the code to work.

Instead of a digital copy, id rather see that money put into a nice booklet or more into a 2nd disc of elaborate special features or something.

'Digital Copy' discs are utterly worthless to me and I wish them out of existence.

Like others, I never bothered with my digital copies until I got a Touch, and now I like having movies accessible as time-killers. Just watched 10 minutes of Serenity tonight.

Creatively, I bet that'd cost the studios a lot more money.

I figured it was worth a shot, but my Clone Wars and Get Smart were expired, and my Dark Knight just hangs. Oh well, it's my own fault for not valuing them sooner.

It sounds either like an internet connection problem or a computer problem. If you had another computer with iTunes on it registered to you and connected to the internet, I would recommend trying again.

Juno's digital copy still works, even though they listed 4/14/09 as a possible ending date.

Since it was a used copy, are you sure the digital copy wasn't just "used up" already?

Do you honestly not know that this is what the studios like to call "illegal"? Plus, most people do not how to do this, and the studios sure as hell don't want to spread that kind of knowledge around. Otherwise people will just start ripping copies from their friends or rentals.

I just did Clone Wars and Dark Knight a few days ago with no problems.

Yeah, I'll do that. I just keep forgetting to do it at home because the WB site is blocked here at work.

I'll definitely try Dark Knight again. The other two clearly said "This offer has expired" but someone said earlier that iTunes is stricter than WMV so that might be my issue since I wasn't interested in these till I got my Touch.

Of course I'm only willing to expend so much effort for Clone Wars.

I agree to a point. I used to hate them, but now that I have a video iPod and an iPhone I enjoy having the ability to have a movie with me when I travel. IF they did disappear I wouldn't be upset or anything. I just wish they didn't come on a separate pointless disc. All these companies are coming out with cases that have less plastic to be more "green" but yet they use discs for digital copies that are used once and then are garbage.

Add me to the list of those who could do without them.

I don't have an iPod or even a laptop, so they are of no use to me.

Its not illegal to rip a DVD (for yourself) if you own it

Yes it is, it requires circumventing the DMCA to gain access to the data on the disc and that is illegal.

Let me be clear, I wish it were legal for people to make their own backups. But I don't like seeing the issue muddied with incorrect information.

Just use Handbrake or something similar. It's less hassle anyway.

Two problems with using Handbrake:

1. No chapter stops like you have with a legitimate digital copy.

2. No artwork for the movie like you have with a legitimate digital copy.

Again, you are ignoring problem #3:
Technically it is illegal to do this.....

What do you mean, "again"? I've ignored problem #3 exactly once.

Mine keep the chapter stops? And I just put in my own picture in iTunes, easy as pie.

And if they had digital copies for The Simpsons, then maybe I would get those, but they don't, so handbrake it is...

I have no first-hand experience with Handbrake nor any other ripping program. I was just relaying a friend of mine's experience using the program to get his movie from his DVD to his iPod. Maybe, he and you are doing something different with regard to using Handbrake.

As in "has already been previously mentioned by others in this thread"....I'm surprised at this point a mod hasn't already stepped in to shut down any of this ripping talk....

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

So since I recently got my iPad, I figure I might as well d/l all those digital copies of the blu-rays I've gotten. Dark Knight, Bug's Life, Up!, GI Joe, Star Trek, etc.

So far only Dark Knight and Twilight are expired and iTunes didn't let me d/l them anymore. :-(

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

I think that the expiration date is a bogus cheap way to get folks to purchase the movie for a higher cost! The BBB should require that they list the digital copy's expiration date in large print on the outside of cover where you can see it before you buy it!
Bought Nights in Rodanthe by Warner Brothers from WalMart specifically because it had the digital version included and I wanted to put it on my ipod. Well no where on the package did it list an expiration date (inside or outside) only found out it expired when I went to upload it to iTunes. Well I hadn't even purchased the thing before the Expiration Date. Sent an email to WB support requesting they remedy the situation and basically got a "To Bad for your Luck" response. I will be posting a complaint to WalMart and the BBB. Oh yeah if I take the movie back to WalMart, because it is opened and played I can only get an replacement of the exact same movie. What the heck good does that do me..
Frustrated with the whole thing...
