Saving Private Ryan --> May 4th

I just found Hook poorly paced, produced (a real stunner with a Spielberg film, since usually he's miles ahead of everybody else) and I wanted to kill Julia Roberts.

I will get this on day one. But the middle does have some problems (all I kept thinking was that Ted Danson saved their lives!) and the ending was abit "Hollywood".
I still go along with the CHUD podcast theory. They should have shot the mother!

Goddamn...I don't even like this movie, but you'd think they would remove the floating heads. This isn't some new film that just came out of the theaters or some obscure flick that needs famous faces on the front to sell copies; most everyone knows what SPR is and who it stars.
Wasn't the original poster just the silhouette at the bottom?

There was one poster just like the cover art above, and then another one with the silhouette of the solider at the bottom. I think there was one poster like that but I could be wrong.

Green Vulture: No, I don't think so. All the DVDs had pretty much that image. Also that's the only poster I've ever seen of SPR. The guy on the bottom and the cast on top. I think that poster art looks fine. I've known it no other way.

The advance poster for SPR:

Then the release poster:

Would have been great to see some new artwork for the new BD but oh well...

Thank you, I knew I wasn't imagining that silhouette-only poster. Neither design is particularly good, but the teaser poster looks more elegant and would befit a "prestige" release line.

After the god-awful new cover art they made for "Minority Report", I have absolutely no problem with the tastefully recycled SPR cover....

I'm not a big fan of SPR, but people love it so I'm happy it's coming out. Hopefully this means A.I. may come out sometime in the near future.

Yeah, but Avatar wasn't even a contender in that battle. You can't win an Best Pic Oscar when 99% of the people leaving the theater claim how shitty the story was but shrug it off anyway. But that's really another topic.
Shakespeare was on a whole other level anyway. Every commercial during primetime promoted how great it was and every newspaper movie ad section did the same at the time. I can't say the same for Hurt Locker. It definitely had the strong word of mouth buzz, but I don't recall much of the marketing hype for it.

I wouldn't say that. A lot of people enjoyed the story. Maybe not you, not a big fan of it myself but...it did what it had to do. And it got it done.

Finally a glowing endorsement. After the crappy reviews of Tombstone and the crappy job on the new Apollo 13 I was worried they'd screw the pooch

It looks like this has everything from the WW II collection except Price for Peace which is available seperately. Is that correct?
