Tombstone -- May 4th

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
I've yet to fully see this film. I've seen the shit out of Wyatt Earp and like that cuz that's what I grew up with. The scenes I did see of Tombstone never really pulled me into it but..it was just short scenes that I did see. No matter what Kurt Russell has never done wrong by me....except for declining The Expendables

I will miss the DVD DC packaging - one of the best imo. |

Oh? What was great about it?

Ah...cool.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
For movies with better DVD packaging than the BD, I just switch the discs. I know the hright difference will bother some, but I don't mind.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Very good movie. Looking forward to seeing this in high-def.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th

Well, seeing as how I have Tombstone on DVD, and never cared to own Armageddon, we'll have to agree to disagree. -ptth-
Tombstone however is a classic. I've never seen Wyatt Earp to compare, but Kilmer is great in this movie. |

The "Vista Series" DVD was anamorphic widescreen (2.40:1 aspect ratio). However, it's one of the most disgustingly Edge Enhanced transfers ever.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Got rid of mine ages ago in anticipation of the BR release. I have Wyatt Earp also but I think Tombstone is the better movie.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Armageddon is one of the worst films ever made in my opinion. To each his own I guess. I hope they involve Kurt Russell. I read an article that he really directed it and has hours of footage literally in his garage. He says he plans on revisting this one day. He said every character had a story arc and they were all filmed. This is why it was such a troubled productions other than fight for locations and costumes with Wyatt Earp.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
This news makes my day...Tombstone is one of my favorite movies..Great news indeed

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
The bits strongly suggests this wont be the Director's Cut.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
I'm gonna be pissed if Disney botches the Tombstone release.
|
Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
damn that's a horrible Minority Report cover for the Blu on that link.

Has Disney yet botched a BD release? I'm actually asking if they have or not. Not that I can recall. The Rock had a pretty good release.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
That is one. Any others? I guess you could say their overall record is good. So chances are good we'll get a worthwhile BD for Tombstone.

I, for one, am not remotely happy that we're not getting the DC and most of the extras because it will ONLY be just under $20 on its release date. They should get it right and still be able to deliver it to us for that price. |
Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Amazon says this and Armageddon come out April 27th.

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
awesome!

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
I'll buy this if everything from the DC DVD is ported over. I love this movie. The bar scene with Russell and Billy Bob owns.

Some many awesome scenes in this film. I would also add that the cast is great, so many names in it. NO ONE says goddammit like Kurt. |
Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Without all of the stuff from the DVD SE this just became a big pass.

I, personally, don't care what anyone says about upconverted dvds, I think a good HD transfer is simply in another stratosphere as a viewing experience. I also don't really think they'll be re-visiting this title in many, many years if ever. Where is The Usual Suspects or ID4 or many other examples of crappy releases that still had great pic and audio quality. I'd like to protest, but they have me by the balls. The DC is better, but I'd rather enjoy this very good movie in HD for many years than sit on my SD. It just sucks that they can't get this stuff right. It really knocks down my excitement about the format, because Tombstone was in my top 20 out of my 600+ dvds that I wanted in HD, they finally announce it, I initially am thrilled, and now knowing it almost certainly will be the theatrical cut with little in the way of extras is totally deflating. Now if the PQ isn't at least a 4 (maybe 3.5), then I will pass and hope for a UK release that is better and region free. |

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
Ok, being the one that's never fully seen the film. Was the DC ever released and was it a better film for it?
Cuz I totally assumed the SE was just the theatrical w/ the special features. |
Re: Tombstone -- May 4th

Re: Tombstone -- May 4th
