Gizmo is 100 percent correct. Bob took the Dimension name when he and Harvey left miramax(Dimension was Harveys baby) and the rights to produces sequals to hits like scary movie, scream, Halloween,Spy Kids etc.

for example as gizmo mentioned scary movie 1 2 3 are released via Buena vista while Scary movie 4 and the long gestating scary movie 5 are distributed by Dimension. Halloween 6, 7,8 are controlled by Buena Vista while Halloween I, H2, and and the upcomming Halloween III is Dimension

they also took the distribution rights of the uncut version of kill Bill (known by most as the whole bloody afair) with them as well.

on a side note while TWC is suffering badly, Dimension is still making enough of a profit for Bob Weinstien and its quite likely that Dimension will still be around long after TWC is gone.

Honestly though i cant wait for the day Harvey's fat @$$ is kicked out of the industry cause that guy is a Friggen scumbag, him and his little Troll looking Nazi protoge Anna. sorry had to vent lol

Iam sure that puts the minds at ease of all 80 of the mirmax employees who were layed off this week after being given those pink slips.

At least Gangs' remaster made it out before the collapse. I think Doubt is the most recent Miramax film I own.
the sooner the better. The Weinsteins I gather don't really care about their film and video catalog titles - they are currently too busy producing Broadway shows and musicals - the sad and unfortunate part is if (or not) some other studio will fill in their shoes and release their films on bluray - say like 'El Cid' and 'Fall of the Roman Empire' (two films I'd most like to own - and yes I do know region B editions exist of both of these titles).

Re: Miramax Dead

It was all downhill after Di$ney bought them out anyways- I don't know what the hell they were thinking when they did that, other than dollar signs. Since they were part of Di$ney, they weren't allowed to release NC-17 rated movies anymore.

Re: Miramax Dead

I want Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill: TWBA, and Grindhouse (Theatrical) on Blu-ray.

This is bullshit.

This is with The Weinstein Company, not Miramax. Depending on whose story you believe, the same may or may not go for the crammed-together Kill Bill.

Re: Miramax Dead

Yeah, but I think he said that because of the talk about TWC possibly going under as well.

I don't believe that Miramax titles on BD will be affected much by this. Disney was probably calling the shots anyway as the distributor.

Re: Miramax Dead

Doesn't Miramax also hold a large catalogue of Asian films including titles such as The Blade, Meals on Wheels, etc.? I remember BCI made a deal to release some of those titles but unfortunately they went under.

That's why I stated in my original post that I hope they get good releases now. That pissed me off to no end how they gave Zatoichi's audio only HD track which was in English. Complete ass decision. One of many they've chosen.

Re: Miramax Dead

Actually, Deadline Hollywood Daily said recently that The Weinstein Company received an influx of cash that should keep them in business until 2015, at least.

I have The Crow from another region... not too shabby. Another company could do better with it.

Uncut 1080P Malena
