Very much so. We totally need more Spielberg on Blu. Munich, Saving Private Ryan, A.I., Schindler's List, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade (my personal fav of the Indy flicks, thanks to Connery), and Jurassic Park are very much needed on Blu.
Also...War of The Worlds...though...my main squabble with it is that BEYOND level of disbelief twist in the story.

Great movie, but as everyone states, from AI on, Spielberg is heavy on the grain. If there is the usual Paramount DNR, they could potentially ruin the PQ.

I know what you mean, just like some site will probably give Collateral a negative review for the same reason. failing to realize that the heavy amount of grain is a consense choice of the director.

Wait....maybe I remember it incorrectly. Damn, wiki proved that you were right.
To answer your latter question: It didn't bother me that it was like that. I just accepted it. They were aliens so....there's a level of disbelief there that at least I could allow.

The one saving grace that we can hope for that since it's a Spielberg movie is that he'll have direct influence in the mastering of the disc, so Paramount won't fuck up the PQ.

Good lord, the artwork is awful. It's even worse than Collateral. Like that film, the DVD artwork was no great shakes, but it looks like a Da Vinci painting compared to the new art.

Whoever they've hired at Paramount to re-do the Blu-Ray artwork needs to be fired immediately. It really is so bad it hampers my excitement for the release, because I'll see the packaging all the time after I've bought it.

Makes me long for the early days of the format...at least we got what we wanted - an upgrade of the original, artwork and all. Now we get crap covers, double feature discs minus extras, flippers, and kitchen sink releases...

Seems like a pretty big hint to me.
Also, that cover art blows, but as long as the disc looks and sounds amazing, I'll live with it.
