Re: "The Final Destination" Not in 3D
Dual layered BD-50 disc used in the first pressing (w/3D version of film), and then switched to a cheaper single layer BD-25 when they drop the 3D version (and the DVD/DC/slipcover)....sounds like Warner to me...

This is a really ridiculous policy. I had no idea this was going on. I guess I haven't been interested in any of the titles where this was an issue. As someone else said, I can understand losing the digital copy and the DVD, but the film was shot in 3D. It seem logical to include that version.
Of course, we all know that this will undoubtedly be getting a re-release once 3D Blu-ray players and TVs come out ...

Re: "The Final Destination" Not in 3D
Apparently.
I can understand releasing newer versions w/o the DVD or Digital Copy a couple months down the road after the initial release, but in less than a week? I personally don't have any interest in picking up The Final Destination, but this, along with quite a few decisions they've made since getting into the Blu-Ray game, have been ridiculous.
'Tis a shame. I remember when WB was considered to be one of the best studios when it came to DVD releases. Now with Blu-Ray on the market, it seems like with a few exceptions, they've done a complete 180°.

I found a used copy tonight at a store here, and was stumped why it was only a single blu-ray with no 3d version mention on the case. Sure enough he looked it up on Amazon and the isbn is identical to the blu-ray/digital 3d copy. I hadn't seen a single disc release in stores so I don't know where it came from.

What an odd policy, especially seeing how short the time frame appears to be in which the 3D version is offered.
Red/Blue 3D may be mediocre at best, but the novelty of that would be my primary motivation for buying a movie that got such mediocre reviews.
Why take a away a selling point so soon?

Re: "The Final Destination" Not in 3D
I just got back from the local bestbuy and target in the hollywood area,
Bestbuy has a ton of final destination 3D on DVD but all the blurays are the 2D version only.
Target however has a mix of both the 3D final destination onbluray and the 2D version Only.

How can that be??? The blu-ray version has both 2D and 3D.

I understand not being able to produce all the bells and whistles a year later. But within the first three months, let alone release week? Kinda ridiculous.

Sometimes I don't buy a movie right away, because the urge isn't there, or I'm waiting for a sale price, or I'm broke at the moment, etc.
If I decide I want the movie sometime down the road I will not buy a 2D-only version.

Re: "The Final Destination" Not in 3D
But they had to remaster a new disc. It would make sense if they just dropped the SD/Digital Copy. That I wouldn't care as much. It's the fact that they remastered a new blu-ray without the 3D option.
It has long been rumored that Warner has been getting a heavily discounted deal on single layer discs (as one of the stipulations in their agreement to go exclusively Blu and deal the death blow that ended the format war)....there has been speculation that it could be the reason why Warner has a greater number of titles pressed with single layer discs compared to other studios....

Any yet in my case, I won't buy the movie with such a significant special feature removed.

Now this is strictly a "wait-for-cable" movie for me.
