Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
I was curious if the U.S release would have DNR like he Canadian Release.
Glad to see it doesn't Definitely getting this Day 1 now :) |
Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
The question is, is the "sound effect" snafu on the old disc going to be present again? Admittedly, it meant nothing to me, and I bought the Infinifilm anyway, but I'm still curious.

Looks good to me. Definitely picking up first day.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
Officially bumped to 4/13 thanks to Lord of the Rings.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
Bah... more reason to hate LOTR now, even though I am still buying it.

Does this come with a ticket to see the new movie?

Oh, good news. I hadn't seen any mention of that. I was hoping the WB marketing team would come through. $16.99 on Amazon + free ticket might get me to buy it now.
And unlike Clash of the Titans, the ticket is good on opening weekend (4/30-5/23) |

Very much worth it if you planned on seeing the film (the BD is essentially $10). Very impressed with it. Wish all Warner catalogs were this nice.
Have you looked at Poseidon yet? I'm sure it's a replica of the HD DVD. I want it, but Amazon is asking $18.99 for it. Too much for that one. |

I was undecided after the first trailer. But I saw a new one recently, and I think it's convinced me to check it out. My biggest gripe with what I've seen is Haley's makeup. Still doesn't look good to me, but everything else looks good.

Poseidon is the unpressed (why? who knows) Blu-ray version from 2007 with a DTS MA track instead of the TrueHD. The IME feature from the HD DVD (that DVDTalk raved about)is not even on the disc(Blu-ray didn't really have PiP, remember?). If you have the HD DVD, there is zero reason to dump it. |
Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
I thought this was coming out Tuesday. Damn it. Just noticed it's the 13th. I figured it'd Tuesday since Poseidon comes out. They usually like to release catalogs at the same time. Maybe someone will beat the $16.99 price, but I bet $19.99 is the lowest we'll see from the major retailers. It'd be mind boggling to think they'd give the fans an actual good deal on a new release.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
The back cover of Poseidon says it has the In Movie Experience. It's showing DTS-HD also, so it can't be old artwork.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
Yeah, probably temp artwork, because there is no IME and the back cover does not list it either. So the IME is still an HD DVD exclusive. Go figure.

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
Best Buy.com had it listed at $24.99 a week ago I assume it's still that price now.

Just put up my review if anyone's bored: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/41576...-elm-street-a/
(It's been a while since I last wrote a review, and whenever I come back from a long break like that, I tend to prattle on. Sorry for the length.) |
Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
How does this release measure up to the Canadian release? Obviously this one has special features, but in terms of PQ.
I kinda like the cover for the Canadian release more. Good review Adam. |

Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
Interesting... didn't really notice that the Canadian version had DNR or EE. I'm tempted to order the US edition, but I really am cutting back on my BD spending, not to mention this would be a double dip.
Oh well. Maybe the movie money will convince me! |
Re: A Nightmare on Elm Street ----> 4/6/10
I was going to hold off on this, but Adam's review, combined with the movie money and the fact that this is my favorite slasher of the 80's (maybe my favorite slasher ever) convinced me to order it from Amazon.
