How many Warner Bros. Blu Ray new releases have you actually rented in the last month? December was probably the only exception for big releases because The Hangover, Harry Potter and Terminator Salvation were all released in time for the Holidays. But, most people in this forum probably bought all 3 of them instead of rented.

Some of you are talking like this is going to apply to all New Releases.
Read the fine print, It's Only Warner Brothers new releases.
The next 2 big WB/New Line Releases are The Time Traveler's Wife and The Box.
I assume this is going to apply to the Warner Premiere DTV releases as well. That kinda sucks as I've enjoyed their last couple DTV horror flick.

I couldn't care less. I'm happy they say we'll get more WB titles streaming, since that is the only reason I use Netflix anymore anyway.

Trying to control your customer's behavior never works. You need to figure out how to make a profit working with the way they like to get your product. This will fail.

I have so many movies in my netflix queue, not to mention my "owned-but-unwatched" queue, that this doesn't really matter to me at all. In fact, I don't think I've ever tried to get something from netflix on release week.
I can understand how this would affect some people for whom release week rentals are the primary reason they have netflix, but I doubt that's the majority of netflix subscribers.

I love how everyone on a DVD enthusiast forum is saying "eh, I can't see this being a big deal, I have stacks of unwatched DVDs in my house." Newsflash: you are not a typical person.

I guess some people feel that they have to watch it the same week that non-Netflix people are buying it in stores? Why? Like others have said, if I didn't care enough to watch it in the theater, then what's another 4 weeks? Or 4 months even?

I just started a 2-week free trial with Blockbuster. Their BD availability isn't better than Netflix, but I don't have to pay the extra surcharge for BDs that sit in my queue with a "very long wait" for an eternity. I'm done with Netflix.

People have been stealing music for more than a decade now...longer than that for games and software too....
I'm really not surprised at all, though it doesn't interest me personally as I prefer to watch my films and TV shows in the highest quality possible and not some shoddy, over-compressed looking download....

Even if I was rental only it would be a non-issue. There are still the same number of new-to-me releases every Tuesday.
I guess some people feel that they have to watch it the same week that non-Netflix people are buying it in stores? Why? Like others have said, if I didn't care enough to watch it in the theater, then what's another 4 weeks? Or 4 months even?

If you're referring to me, my owned movies are just one of a number of factors in why this is a non-issue. I can only see this being an issue for people that have some odd psychological need to rent a movie the week it is released for sale, as there is no practical need for that at all, even as a big movie fan (perhaps especially as a big movie fan).
