At first I was going to say "at least we have 2 more years before they start doing this". Then I remembered 2012 is the title of a movie.

Amazon has now lowered the price of the 2-disc to $22.99. Mine of course shipped Friday, but they have been very good about giving me the credit back, so I'll wait and make sure they do.

Target set is a 4 disc set. 2 discs, digital copy and another blu of the 2012 apocalypse documentary. Target only had about 12 copies in the box when they opened it so not sure if its limited or this was just one case out at a time.

Their exclusive version of Angels and Demons didn't last too long. I've already seen the regular release restocked at most of the locations here. I'd say 2012 will follow a similar pattern.

My Target took the stickers off the slipcovers, put them on the Blu-ray case, and threw all of the slipcovers away. Luckily I found somebody who worked there and he dug me a mint one out of the trash (literally). He said they just wouldn't fit in the security cases, but that's just a terrible practice.

For the Target version, the cover art says 2 discs, the slipcover says 3 discs, and the case contains 4 discs. Pretty funny.

Yeah, I opened mine and was surprised to see the number of discs inside. I paid 22.99 plus tax for it by the way.

The Target I went to just smashed all of the 3-disc BDs into the security cases, damaging every one of the slipcovers.

does anyone know if the upc codes are the same for the target version and the regular 2 disc version. since it seems they are trashing the slipcovers i want to make sure that if i buy it there it has the extra discovery channel disc

I read on DVD Profiler that yes, they apparently have the same UPC.

Well that sucks hopefully my target, if they removed the slipcovers, put the exclusive sticker on the bd case itsself then.

Heads up if you have a Costco membership (and don't want the Target exclusive version): you can grab the 2 disc version there for only $19.99, which is what Best Buy and others are selling the 1 disc only version for.....saw a bunch of copies when I was in there earlier today....

I also noticed today that Walmart has a different slip cover for the 2 disc version at their stores....collectors beware!

so i went to target, westhollywood next to bestbuy. they had the slipcovers removed and the sticker placed on the actual case. when i got home it was missing the Discovery channel disc. i went back and exchanged it, had them open it there again same thing even though there was a sticker saying that it was included. tried one more and it had it in there.
so be careful when you pick this up

Has anybody seen the Discovery documentary (included with the Target 3-disc version) that can comment on it?

Went with the 1 disc steelbook version. I'd probably never watch the extras more than once (if that) and despite it costing $4 more and being pretty plain, I had to go for the Steelbook. I kind of like it's simple design.

I popped both Discs 1 and 2 into my LITE-ON internal and fired them up in Cyberlink 9.0, and the pop-up menu wouldn't activate on either main menu, preventing me from playing the discs. Any solutions?

EDIT: Even though it pre-dated 2012's release, I downloaded the last update and the problem fixed itself.

Yep, picked it up last night at Target for $22.99 and they had about 20 more copies.

Looking forward to watching this over the next week, too much to do to watch it all in one week.

Here are the exclusive slipcovers from WalMart and Target

I applaud Roland Emmerich for basically making a $200 million dollar demo disc that I can throw on every once in a while for certain scenes.... I tried watching this again last night and damn was that was hard.

It's on right now. Some interesting information mixed in with a lot of shots from the movie. Mainly scenes of destruction. It almost felt like a very elaborate ad for the movie.

I love the cover art they used for the walmart set, i have the movie poster version of that cover art.

I also love the choice of art work used on each of the discs in the target set.

I got the 4-disc set at Target and luckily it wasn't jammed into a security case. Great set.
