Netflix/Blu Ray shipping question
I just recently got a Blu Ray player and have a Netflix account.
I'm thinking of adding the Blu Ray plan, but wanted to know something....
If I add a blu title to my queue and then the regular dvd version of the same movie in the next slot, if they ship the blu ray version, will they ship the regular version too? Or if blu ray version becomes a long wait, will they just ship the regular version?
Hope that's not too confusing?

If you pick the plan with the blu option, they will always send the blu, not DVD. If they have both, you will always get the Blu, even if there's a wait. If you want the DVD cause there's no wait, you will have to click the DVD option.

There is a drop down menu. It sets to blu-ray as default when you add a movie (and changes all movies already in your queue to blu-ray) but you can click the drop-down menu and click DVD if you like. Why would you want to watch both the HD and SD version back to back though? Or in general?

^^ what he said.
I was curious as to where I stood if the blu ray were to on a "long wait".
Thanks for your help - off to add the blu ray plan now

Yes, you can, but you have to manually change it yourself. Netflix won't just give you the DVD if the BR isn't available.

Depending on what part of the country you live in, you may find Blu-rays ship faster. I've been a Netflix member for about a year now, and have had no issues getting new-release Blu-rays. In fact, when one wasn't available immediately, they shipped it from another center and still shipped the next Blu-ray down on my queue list - allowing me to have three blu-rays out at one time (I'm on the 2-disc plan) because of the delay. That kind of stuff keeps me loyal to Netflix.

Actually, you can pick either BD or DVD to be the default. And then you can always change titles to whichever you want. We have a 2 disc account and divide it between my wife and I. Since there is no reason for her to get a BD (she doesn't use that TV), I leave mine set to DVD. I then change all discs for me to BD if available. Easier for me to change than expect her to.
