Robert Rodriguez: Mexico Trilogy on Blu-ray in 2010

Robert Rodriguez has confirmed that all three movies from his "Mexico Trilogy" –or "Mariachi Trilogy"– ('El Mariachi', 'Desperado' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico') will be released in 2010 and that he's been personally involved in the project. At this early stage there is no information as to whether the titles will be released individually or as part of a trilogy box set.
'Desperado' was one of the titles announced by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in January 2006 as part of the first wave of Blu-ray releases by the studio, and has often appeared on SPHE's trailers to promote the format.

From Bloody-Disgusting:
He also confirmed that the 'Mariachi' trilogy will be released on Blu-ray next year, and that there will be something new included on the discs.
"Theres something were working on," said Rodriguez. "I cant say what it is...I know its no fun when you dont say anything but I just cant."

yeah, Rodriguez mentions on the commentary the MPAA wasn't too kind to the cut he submitted for it's rating - some extreme grue and squib work got clipped here and there

I agree, if I never see Once upon a time in Mexico again, I believe I will be better off, I just thought it had so much potential in its premise, but did everything wrong compared to Desperado and El Mariachi.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico was really good. It wasn't on the same level as the first two but I'm still a big fan. I'm excited to hear about this set, and will be purchasing it for sure.

I'd only buy Desperado. My DVD of El Mariachi (which I haven't watched) is probably sufficient given the film stock, and I didn't really dig OUATIM that much.

Really liked Once Upon a Time in Mexico myself. El Mariachi is probably the best anyway. Desperado is just a bigger version of it. Definitely pick up this set though, they are all fun.

I'd love to see how Once Upon a Time In Mexico will look on Blu-ray, given the fact that it was shot in HD. The DVD alone is quite impressive. I hated it the first time I saw, but grew to appreciate what Rodriguez was shooting for.

The best one is Desperado, imo. OUATIM is a interesting attempt, and really more of an exercise in RR working w/ HD, but the only thing of consistent good quality is any seen w/ Depp. El Mariachi is good for what had to be done to make. Entertaining but...Desperado was badass.

Was surfing deals on Amazon and saw they have a listing up, with cover art and a date of January 4th, 2011:

Features listed are:
- Director Robert Rodriguez Commentary
- Director's Commentary
- MovieIQ
- The Cutting Room
- 10 Minute Film School
- Robert Rodriguez's Student Film: "Bed Head"
- 10 More Minutes: Anatomy of a Shootout
- Los Lobos with Antonio Banderas - "Morena De Mi Corazón"
- Tito & Tarantula- "Back To The House That Love Built"
Doesn't look like there's anything new. Good deal though. Wish they'd done all three, but I'll take what I can get. I also always thought they should've added a little chin, mouth and nose to that shadowy face, because it looks so unnatural totally black, but what can you do. Hopefully the final art says "Rodriguez's" rather than acting like he's the star, though, or flips his name above the "Double Feature".
