Yup. Especially when that extra slipcover costs very little to make and they can pack it flat inside the same box as the rest of the blu-ray package for no additional postage cost on their end.

I didn't realize the current domestic release of CARRIE is an MPEG2 encode! So, it certainly does seem worthy of an upgrade.

All the same, since 2016 is the 30th Anniversary (!!) year for THE HITCHER, it would give Warner / HBO a great reason to release the title... Sure it would sell very, very well.

Caps for ROTLD are up at Caps-a-holic, here's the comparison with the MGM BD. The image is crisper and the colors are better although it's not as big of a difference as I was hoping it might be.

Exorcist III coming October 25th

https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/fi...ctor-s-edition

No word on extras yet.

Very underrated Exorcist movie. Only thing that sucks is that I bought the Exorcist anthology set a few years ago and this was in it. So, the only incentive to get this (for those who already bought that set) would be the extras and a potential picture upgrade.

Also the reconstructed version of Blatty's director's cut.

From Scream Factory's facebook:
We know that the biggest question you might have is: Will there be a “Director’s Cut” of the film? The answer is yes—but with some caveats. We are working on putting together a version that will be close to Blatty’s original script using a mixture of various film and video tape sources that we have been provided with. This is still a work in progress and we will update you with more details at the time we announce the full list of bonus materials.

Oh man - even taking in the possible "caveats", getting some version of the director's cut is awesome.

I wonder if Blattey's director's cut would essentially remove the last act, as the studio wanted a big Exorcism scene to sell it as Exorcist III

It can be hard to put away childish things — particularly when the thing in question is a Brad Dourif-voiced killer doll. On Oct. 18, Scream Factory is unleashing a collector’s edition Blu-ray of the 1988 horror film Child’s Play, the movie which introduced the world to that mini-maniac Chucky, and EW can exclusively reveal the release’s bonus features.

The two-disc set boasts a new 2K scan of the movie plus a recently-recorded audio commentary with the film’s Master of Horror director, Tom Holland (the original Fright Night). Other extras include two more commentaries (one with actors Alex Vincent and Catherine Hicks as well as Chucky designer Kevin Yagher, the other with producer David Kirschner and screenwriter Don Mancini), select scene commentaries from Chucky himself, numerous featurettes, the original theatrical trailer, and a still photo gallery. More extras will be announced at a later date.

Those who buy the set directly from the Shout Factory!/Scream Factory website will also receive a slipcover and poster while those who take advantage of the website’s “deluxe offer” will get two slipcovers, two posters, and a limited edition “Good Guys Chucky” doll from NECA. Both offers are available only while stocks last.

You can see artwork for the Child’s Play Blu-ray set above and below (plus, that creepy doll!).

I think we can expect 2 disc Collector Editions of Misery and Silence of the Lambs in the future.

Think I'll buy the regular release. No interest in any of the LE stuff. They're really pimping those "exclusive" second slipcovers.

Yeah I'll just get the regular release too. I don't need all those extras trinkets. I don't have the shelf or closet space for any of it.

and $60 is a lot of money for a limited edition release of an almost 30 year old movie.

I actually like the Good Guys art. First one of these recent special poster/covers that look worthy.

Child's Play is one I feel is worth getting the limited edition for. Love the exclusive artwork on the second slipcover and the NECA figure sweetens the deal.

...Especially so because there is already a perfectly good existing Blu-ray of the film already out.

Shout continues to disappoint in their LE, pimped-up re-releases of old material, and the seeming fetish with including unwanted trinkets to inflate prices (and, therefore, their profits).

Is it *that* expensive to lease new material to get into 1080p?

I'll probably pass on Child's Play. I'm pretty happy with the Blu Ray box set I have already. I went through the same thing with Mad Max. My OCD kicked in and I just didn't want to muddy the waters with a single movie blu ray sitting on my shelf next to a box set.

Never gonna happen because WB doesn't like to let other kids in their sandbox. God, if they ever opened up their catalog to the likes of Scream, Criterion, or Arrow...

Went with the LE of The Thing but all of the others I can be content with just the regular editions. Pretty cool that they are doing the LE though.
