David Chiang was one of my favorite Shaw actors growing up, Saw a lot of his stuff on Kung Fu Theater back in the 80s in syndication. If it isn't outrageously expensive, I'll definitely consider it.

It's $170 before tax. Site exclusive.

I'm thinking of waiting until the holidays to see if any of the site exclusive stuff is on sale.

For whatever it's worth, I think that movie for movie, this is the best of the Shout sets. I'm a little surprised that this is a site exclusive.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

The problem I have is it is now very apparent Shout picked up a large list of titles in bulk for a discount and must only have limited time on the license (apparently there will be a Vol. 4 and 5 as well). They are not putting in any effort into new scans. They are just packaging them together quick and cheap (that Lung / Chiang artwork is terrible) and charging a premium to stay ahead of the game in the label wars.

Another label must have the rights to some of these Shaw titles in Region B and they want to get everything out before they get announced.

With plenty of people who are fans of this genre being Region Free, they know buyers from other countries will find a way to order these too.

Did anyone pick-up the 4K release of Nightbreed (1990)?

It's a bummer the Cabal Cut didn't get any treatment but I was curious about the quality of the sole 4K Theatrical Cut present on the release.

My copy of Night Of The Comet UHD shipped, the one with 2 posters and a slipcover. I am looking forward to watching this film at least a 3rd or 4th time, but this time in UHD.

The Bruce Willis Death Wish gets a 4K release?

I haven’t seen it in years, but Surviving the Game was a pretty badass movie.

Nice to see a physical media release of the Police Academy movies. I always thought they were being held back in the US to appease the easily offended.

There's been a DVD compilation out for several years, with some truly bad cover art. I've never picked it up because I have no wish to revisit the films, but I see that set kinda often and that cover art really sticks out.

It's been out on DVD in the US for years. There has been a Blu-ray of the series from the UK as well. I have that and got it for super cheap.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

I imported the Blu of the Police Academy set on Amazon many years back when it was very cheap. I no longer have the set so if it went on sale I would strongly consider buying.

I liked Surviving The Game when I saw it many years back (I think I rented it on Netflix), but that is definitely a title I will wait for one of those great Shout sales.

Police Academy is a weird franchise. The first one is sort of a raunchy 80s comedy classic, but all of the sequels were watered down PG-13 movies, and it really degenerated quickly into slapstick. It even eventually became a Saturday morning cartoon!

And I say "sort of" a classic because if it weren't for the sequels it probably wouldn't have been remembered much a all, but those same sequels were all really kind of terrible. Two was sort of okay, but this had probably the clearest visible diminishing returns of any franchise.

The first movie had a guy getting non-consensual blowjob from under a podium while giving a speech, and at the midpoint of the franchise it became a sort of family-friendly PG silliness. So it's not surprising that a big studio wouldn't quite know what to do with it in the DVD age.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

I have the entire series on one of these WB Film Favorites collection DVD sets. I don’t think I really need a BD upgrade.

I did re-watch the first 4 movies on Max a few years ago. The first two have some nostalgic appeal, but they just get dumber and dumber.

They should have included the short lived late 90s Police Academy: the series that aired in syndication. Michael Winslow from what I recall was the only returning OG cast member.

I have the 15th Anniversary DVD set (which included PKW as a Best Buy exclusive). I was disappointed with that set since it didn't have subtitles, so I'll seriously consider upgrading here if it has PKW in HD (and, hopefully with the deleted scenes that the foreign releases got that the R1 release didn't) and subtitles.

Upon closer examination of the Shout Factory Farscape: The Complete Series page, it does include Peacekeeper Wars. You have to click "Description" to see it. (Eh... hate it when they bury important information like that under a click.)

Looks I'll be upgrading my DVD set. I might order the set with the poster if I can see the art before it sells out, and looks particularly awesome.

Yes - it includes TPW and apparently includes SDH (according to the listing on Shout's site).

No mention if this is a new remaster from the original film (unlikely as it's still likely lost) or is the same upscale from PAL already seen in the 15th Anniversary BR edition.

I have zero need/desire for a box-o-junk version (which costs considerably more than the Plain-Jane release - Poster+Stickers=$65 more, Poster+Stickers+Pins=$125 more).

Once the regular set goes on sale I *might* pick up a copy just to have SDH - otherwise I'm quite pleased with the 15th Anniversary BR releases and TPW on a separate disc (though *would* like a version with the international release included).

I wonder how many people will buy that version of Death Wish thinking it's the Bronson version (which we know is on Kino Lorber) I mean there is no reference in the artwork to Willis or Eli Roth.

I wondered the same thing and stared at the cover for a while, the figure in the middle appears to be bald, so there's that…

I don't disagree... but that was the poster art (minus the billing block).

God, I still have my 2011(?) release of Farscape that I haven't even explored yet....but from what most are guessing, we probably won't get getting better transfers of it...

I remember reading somewhere that Henson threw away all of the film elements because they couldn't afford to store them. Ergo... the current transfers are the best we'll get.

I also have the 2011 A&E blu set, and I would love it if Shout finally put out Peacekeeper Wars as a separate blu-ray release eventually.
