Neither really. They are average 1950s U.S. black/white horror films. Production is way bigger than Corman or any other AIP film of the 50s. Comparable to lower budget film from big studio.
The Vampire was originally double featured with Monster That Challenged The World.
If you like other 50s horror from United Artists(Return of Dracula, Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake, Donovan's Brain, Black Sleep) you'll like these.

Hmm, not so much on those, but I'm always open minded. But something like this I probably wouldn't pick up unless I found it really cheap.

Man, the 1 hour docu on Dreamscape was really good.

I finally got around to watching Scream's Session 9 release and it looks stunning for a largely unheralded indie from 2001.

It's probably the best-looking catalog transfer I've seen put out by Scream Factory. It blows the DVD out of the water.

Shout Factory does so many things so well, but man their digital copy program sucks. They might as well not bother to include one at all as the one they have is so restrictive.

Honestly, I didn't even know they had one.

They have a similar thing with their otherwise spectacular Transformers Movie Steelbook.

I mostly think they include a "digital copy" as a come-on to casual movie types. It's a token gesture more intended as another point-of-purchase inducement.

Digital copies released outside the Hollywood studios are largely worthless.

Gotcha. My experience with Shout has mostly been with their Scream Factory line, and very few of those have digital copies.

I think the last one I got (Snowtime) had a digital copy playable on the VHX (or something like that) app on the Roku, which I've at least heard of even if I can't remember the name. Won't be as easy to trade it for anything as it is for Ultraviolet codes, so may as well redeem it and check it out. I've still never seen the real need to have these in the first place, but has made it nice for trading for digital copies of movies I otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Meanwhile looking forward to Slumber Party Massacre II and III on Blu-Ray- never saw the 3rd one.

Don't know, but those two titles I've been wanting to see for 30+ years. They magically disappear when other, lesser titles, are now being touted? Thanks for nothing, Shout!

Forgive me if this has already come up and been answered, but I couldn't find it in 66 pages... :D

Do Scream Factory BDs not come standard with slipcases anymore? I haven't bought one in a while, but all the pics show just the standard Blu-ray case. This will not sway my purchases either way, I'm just curious.

Some of the "bigger" releases come with slipcovers for their first printing.

Looking forward to the releases of Tales From The Hood & Exterminator 2.

Exterminator 2 was released by 101 Films in the UK not too long ago but that company doesn't have a great track record when it comes to releases, so I hope Scream Factory's is better.

The Handmaid's Tale is certainly a timely release - both in context of its story and there's a new miniseries coming to Hulu.

I seem to recall that The Handmaid's Tale got bad reviews when it was released, but I though it was quite good.

Not ALL the Pink Panther films, but at least they've reconciled RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER into this set, so we finally get all the Peter Sellers appearances in one box.

- The Pink Panther
- A Shot In The Dark
- The Return of the Pink Panther
- The Pink Panther Strikes Again
- Revenge of the Pink Panther
- Trail of the Pink Panther

The rest won't really be missed by a lot of folks anyway. :)

Yeah, technically the set is called "Blake Edwards' The Pink Panther Film Collection Starring Peter Sellers".

It's up for preorder on Amazon for $99.99:
https://smile.amazon.com/Panther-Col...dp/B01MZ6Y8XS/

Do you know what the rights issues were with RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER that kept it out of the DVD set?

Edit: Found the reason
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pi...er#Development

The first five Sellers–Edwards films were originally released by United Artists. Trail, Curse, and Son were released by MGM/UA. Previous DVD rights to The Return of the Pink Panther were controlled by Artisan and Universal Pictures' Focus Features division respectively, in partnership with British production company ITC Entertainment and successor-in-interest ITV Global Entertainment Ltd. Artisan issued this film on DVD for Region 1 on July 20, 1999 and then by Focus Features on January 10th, 2006. As of 2015, MGM has now have total ownership to "Return" in the US after acquiring the remaining rights from ITV, although ITV still controls UK distribution with Universal handling video rights.

In the 1980s MGM/UA wanted to sell tv distribution rights to several films they had distributed but not produced to ITC. Among them Raise The Titanic, The Eagle Has Landed, Capricorn One, The Cassandra Crossing and Saturn 3. To make the deal go through, MGM/UA threw in one high profile film that they owned, Return of The Pink Panther. Home video rights went with it.

Yeah I recall they produced 2 more movies post-Sellers death. Plus, the Son of the Pink Panther. As you said, no one will miss them.

I'll be interested in seeing the bonus material for this set. Honestly, I'm not the biggest Pink Panther fan, but I did enjoy each one to an extent. The highlight of the 1st movie was seeing a very young Capucine as Clouseau's wife.

Plus, one between the 2nd and 3rd Pink Panther films Peter Sellers did, with Alan Arkin as Inspector Clouseau. This was during a period where Blake Edwards and Peter Sellers vowed never to work together again, and each turned down the film.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_Clouseau_(film)

So there's a total of 5 Pink Panther films sans Sellers: Inspector Clouseau, Curse of the Pink Panther, Son of the Pink Panther, and the two featuring Steve Martin.
