Why are all brides smiling? They know they've given their last BJ
I didn't even bother with the red2blue program. There are titles I would definately need on blu if my HD players crap out, but I figured with 3 players, by the time that happens, enough used copies will be floating around I'll do it then and not have the redundency in my collection.

I had 2 players and roughly 75 HD-DVD discs. I've given the players away to a friend of mine and also gave him the HD's that I have already bought on Blu-ray. I did the red2blu upgrade on a bunch of them. I still have lots of HD's that aren't available on Blu yet and I'm currently in the process of converting them to BD-25's. Once I'm done, I will give him the remainder of my HD's. I really didn't have much money tied up with HD-DVD and don't mind giving it all away. Most of the movies I paid 99 cents for and I'm spending another $2.00 per BD-25 to convert them. So, I'll have all of my "exclusive" HD titles on Blu and will not have spent much money at all on them.
Speaking of 'exclusive' HD-DVD's... anyone have an import copy of JERSEY GIRL that they are looking to get rid of? I'm looking to convert it to a BD-25 to go with my other Kevin Smith movies. Already done this with Mallrats and of course all of his other films are now on blu. The only copy I've seen on Ebay sells for $40+ dollars. Not paying that much for an HD-DVD disc!

Jersey Girl is a pretty rare HD DVD. The ones available typically go for $40+.

I bought an HD-DVD player about a month before the "announcement", and I'm still enjoying watching my HD-DVD titles.
I have a Sony BD player as my primary, but my Toshiba HD player still works like a champ in a backup role (and does a terrific upconvert, as well). Once the Toshiba dies I'll worry about picking up BD versions of titles like Blade Runner, The Thing, Batman Returns, but until that day the HD-DVD discs all look and sound excellent.
Just because they stopped making them doesn't mean the hardware (or software) you own stops working.

Gizmo.. after thinking about it I may just bite the bullet and purchase the HD-DVD of Jersey Girl. It's 42.99 w/ free shipping.
With all of your infinite wisdom on 'all things blu'... do you know when/if this may get released on blu-ray? I'd hate to purchase it and find out that a blu-ray is in the works.
On another note: I just imported the Scream trilogy blu's. I've read some good and bad things about the release, but it'll suffice until the US gets official releases. Have you watched these yet?

As for Scream, I passed on that for $30. It's the Theatrical Cut, in 1080i, and with Scream 4 being greenlit, and the Trilogy selling fairly well on DVD, it'll come eventually. I'd say 2010 actually if Scream 4 actually comes out (but it's a Weinstein title, and they to are in a questionable state). It's been rumored to being worked on several times.

I only have 4 HD-DVD's and 3 are from WB, so I just got the covers in the mail today for the red2blu.com
I guess this program ends in a few days, but they took my $$ just fine.

Re: What to do with HD DVD discs? Looking for suggestions..
I was trying to figure out today what to do with the HD-DVDs that I replaced via Red2Blu earlier this year. I figure they aren't worth much with the photocopied artwork. On my shelf, my HD-DVD collection (100+ movies) were segregated below my blu-ray collection (~200 movies), but today I decided to combine the movies into one alphabetical collection, and it looks much more impressive now with my HD-DVDs included. Looking at the duplicates now, I'm deciding that it's probably best money-wise just to sell the shrinkwrapped blu-ray copies and just keep the HD-DVDs. A few months ago, I was all excited to swap out these discs, but I have so many HD-DVDs left anyway, it doesn't make sense any more.

Amazon takes most HD DVD titles in their trade-in program, as long as they are in good condition. You'll only get somewhere between 50 cents and $2 per title in Amazon credit, but you can unload a bunch of them all at once and at least get something. They provide a shipping label as well.
That's what I did after I jumped at the opportunity to sell my HD-A35 for more than I paid originally. Otherwise I probably would have just kept them and the player and enjoyed the movies.
