Re: Paranormal Activity - 12/29/09

Let me get this straight. The "unrated" version is only a different ending?

I have the DVD sitting in my car from Redbox as we speak (not interested in paying $25 for a bare bones Blu-ray and the DVD rental cost me nothing); but if that's the case, Paramount really messed this release up or there's a gigantic double-dip coming down the road when they release the director's second film in 2010. Especially when one can easily find the festival screener floating online which includes nearly 15 minutes of alternate/deleted/extended footage.

I'm confused as well. I know there are several different endings, but I thought the BD had 2 different cuts of the film + alternate ending (so 3 different endings).

For some reason I thought the BD was going to have the first version of the film that came out in 2007.

Maybe I got confused

It doesnt include the cut that was leaked online a while ago. That isnt here on the BD.

The BD has the theatrical and another (havent watched the whole alternate yet so not sure if any other scenes are different) with the

slit throat
ending. The theatrical has the

I actually dont mind the trailers at the beginning. It kinda gives it more of that 'theater experience' Menus? yea, its not that hard to make even a simple menu. Shit, you can make a nice basic menu on Nero. Bonus features? If Im sending more than $10 on a movie, yr damn right I want bonus features. Deleted scenes, audio commentary, trailers, featurettes...something to make the purchase worth the damn price!

^^ This! Or in this movies case, a 90 minute film for $25.

I mean, honestly. You pay $20 or more for it better be damn good w/ some features. OR Be damn good and give me some awesome features to boot since they love that you love the flick. OR be a good flick with a decent array or features. Or something with a switch of this and that and it's a decent package sort of effort.

Exactly my thoughts. But we're in the minority, as this is a site for collectors of discs as opposed to film lovers for the most part.

Give me quality sound/picture of the feature and I'm happy and this disc delivers both.

How did you get a free rental from Redbox this week?

Are there any reviews that have compared the audio/video of the Blu-ray vs. DVD.
Wondering how much better they quality can be, condering how cheaply the film was made.
Just wondering if the Blu-ray is worth the additional $10.
Thanks for any links to comparisons!

Paramount (as far as I'm aware) did not send out review copies of this film. So a side-by-side comparison may be a while.

Re: Paranormal Activity - 12/29/09

Wow, the list of fan names after the movie is over is insane. It runs for 15 mins but it goes by so fast that you cant read any of the names. I had to pause and frame advanced when it got near my name. Its there... i feel special, so f$#@in special.

For some reason there is like 2 mins of blackness after the movie ends before it goes to any thing else... either there was something going on that I missed or couldnt hear. Ill have to check it out later unless someone else already did it or knows what the 2 mins is of nothing.

Re: Paranormal Activity - 12/29/09

I enjoyed the film, but realllllly dissapointed that one of the other endings isn't there. I only found out about the third ending when I went to IMDB and everyone was talking about something I had no clue about. Made me think I fell asleep at some point.

I rarely use Redbox; but I just use the codes provided by InsideRedbox.

Re: Paranormal Activity - 12/29/09

Shit, the fan credits were on there? I thought they cheaped out and skipped it... I saw that there was no running time left and hit stop - and didn't see any option to see those fan credits from the menu...just returned it to the video store too.

When the movie is over, it switches to another track on the disc and shows the actors in the film, and then switches again to another track where the fan list is. It was kinda lame really when it comes down to it.

This movie was shit anyway. I can't believe that I got caught up in the hype and thought that this would be a fun, scary ride. However, I ended up looking at my laptop about halfway through until the end of it.

It was supposed to be Oct. 22nd, but with Greutert getting pulled, and no replacement director announced, I don't know if that's still happening.
